  • Civ4: Omega Expansion

Well, with Warlords about to come out and an inevitable second expansion probably already in the planning stage, now is the time for we fans to make out voices heard. I propose we send a petition of things to add/change in the game through a second expansion, fan codenamed "Omega" for easy reference.

Feel free to post any ideas for the 2nd expansion. I plan on updating this list as new ideas are presented, new information is obtained, and when Warlords is released.

Items included here are not to be considered set in stone, rather as suggestions. I hope that in time we can solidify a formal list to submit.

Well I was kinda hoping for the Super Praetorian, complete with lasers, jet backpacks and titanium body armour...................

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

        I resent that.

            Maybe the tone...............

But I agree that cIV needs more of the in game stuff, rather than the (IMO) window dressing of more leaders and more "CIVs".

I would like to see more units (not just military), more techs, and a more diverse tech tree.

So go ahead and post some suggestions. That's the purpose of this thread.

I want a new game system.

                1. I am thinking of a leader transfer system, in which you start with some generic boaring leader, but at a certin year when a famous real life leader for that civilization comes up (like if you're America, in 1776 Washingtom comes up, and you can switch to him instead) and there would be new advantages and disadvantages. This would allow some sort of leader succession, but without making it happen constantly.

                2. Rebellion system. In which cities with unhappy people have a chance to go into protest. This is completly seperate for cultural protest things. The more unhappiness the more likely of a rebellion. The city is shut down for some time, and you have a few options of what to do to take care of it, and maybe new ones open up and close with different civics. For instance, you could choose to kill all protesters but that adds unhappiness and you loose population, but the rebellion ceases immeadiatly. Or you could pay them to stop protesting, which costs gold and might not work, but if it does there's no more unhappiness penelty. There should be a few more options and an option to do nothing and see if it just dies out. But if it lasts for a certin amount of time then the city goes into complete anarchy in which all stationed units die, and the city is turned to ruins. Or if there are multipul cities all in rebellion nearby (even if from different nations) they could form a new nation (with the name "New Nation" or something like that, and a random personality leader)

Looks like some pretty good suggestions.

Only other thing I would add is that I'd quite like to see a proper, official World War II scenario with custom-designed leaderheads, units etc.

Oh, and scenario-specific movies would be pretty nice!

Mausoleum, Valley of the Kings and Statue of Zeus are all wonders of the Ancient Age. There are so many to build as it stands, with the Temple of Artemis and the Great Wall added in Warlords; I prefer more wonders in the Taj Mahal/Statue of Liberty era.

I guess the other wonders on your list would become available with Medieval/Rennaisance techs, based on their original creation date, which is nice.

Any suggestions are welcome. I would've added more if I could think of them.

Also: Does anybody have suggestions for what the new wonder ideas could do?

In the same way that warfare seems to be getting an overhaul in the expansion I'd like to see trade and exploration overhauled in any further expansion. I still think it's absurd that in civ-world a scout can walk from Lisbon to Seoul in 200BC and report back usefully on everything he's seen. And then, once sailing is invented the civ can start freely trading with Cape Town and Oslo, never even having heard of them.

I know unit supply is somewhere the game has never gone before, but I would like to see some sort of cap on early exploration and trade, the earliest game at the moment is about slapping down key city sites and not much more. After that, the warring players start to take a few town and the builders start to build a few buildings, but you can fairly fly through the years to 4000bc with little deviation from your 'normal' build queue.

I'd really like to see the creation of trade routes as part of that early game as a conscious effort, I know that building roads is already in there as part of it, but that never reaches anything like the importance of a silk road or the like.

A medieval tech might remove the supply considerations so that by the time there are large numbers of units the micro management of that has gone. But it would keep the wonder of exploration alive for longer and make colony cities (a long feature of civilisations) something to consider.

Dunno how it would work, but trade is surely the biggest element in mans rise over the 6000 years of the game and it's about the only part of it which the player has no real say in.
