The cost difference is a good point.

I don't think Charismatic should be reduced. The whole point, I think is that a barracks will give you two promos. Otherwise, the trait will feel invisible to most people unless they are super-conquerers.

Although, now that I think about it, aggressive, charismatic leaders sure would be fun to play! Cheap barracks, and combat 3 from the start! W00t!

No...that would be unbelievably unfair for a civ to have both Cover and Shock available to their Axemen and Swordmen.

That would require 4 promotions... Combat I, II, Cover, Shock. CI would be free. The rest would normally take 10 xp... with creative 7.5. 7 or 8? Who knows.

Barracks+West Point or Vassalage + Theocracy.

        I likey that too!

Aggressive, Charismatic seems to be something like Philosophical , Industrious. Those traits work far too well together, so they probably won't have a civ with them.

....Combat 1 grants Shock and Cover

....Combat 2 grants Formation, Charge, and Ambush

Seriously, if you want to lecture me on Civ IV, great, but do it when you know what you're talking about

            Spiritual, Industrious

Neither of those traits are that great....

Brennus's swordsmen would be much more impressive (as would the unique building) if melee units could ordinarily get the guerilla promotions. My bet is that the gallic swordsmen and any melee units built in cities with a dun will not be able to be promoted to guerilla II.

So I confused Cover with Formation (because i was just talking about it). I seriously don't know the names of the promotions very well. They're all just +melee, +defense, +mounted in my mind.

As for lecturing, I wasn't lecturing. I was gleefully discussing the random implications of the new expansion pack! Chill.

It seems to me that the best counter to Numidian Cavalry would be Horse Archers, not spearmen.

He also could have been refering to Pre-C3C Spiritual+Industrious which was the strongest trait combo back in the Civ III days.

                      Korea will be strong too.
Their UU is very good. + 50% against melee units!
Build a huge ammount of Hwachas with spear/pikes to protect them.

The traits are protective / financial, so those Hwachas have drill I and II from beginning and with barracks drill III!

                        Yeah, I did. Post edited.

The point would be that it makes getting great people much easier than any other civ by combining cheap wonders with cheap great people.

Ghandi's traits work well if you get the Pyramid, but they aren't a perfect match otherwise.

Anyway, Aggressive, Charismatic would allow for the greatest warmonger. You would get a head start on promotion and than advance even further with cheap promotions. Obviously there is more to fighting than promotions, but it gives you an edge over others.

FDR is also good with the Pryamids. You can build it cheap and the government you chose will be cheap.

Numidian Cavalry is not as strong as many here expect: its strength is only 5. Praetorians, Spearmen and Horse Archers are still superior.

But those living off Axemen and Swordsmen rushes are out of luck.

Yeah, Caesar is too good to fiddle much with. But fiddling to make him better, if it succeeds is good.
