But they are already there. They´re just not visible until you discover a particular tech. Which is quite logical when you think about it. You have to learn how to ride a horse before you find them...

I think he meant ore you discover as part of the 5% chance you get when you drill a new mine, not original game ore.

I hate to mention it when in so much of the world simplicity has become a blanket excuse for ignorance, but some of us like to micromanage.
Micromanagement is not a great intellectual feat, in fact, I'd say not being bored senseless by it is a mark of a dulled imagination. I find rejigging my workers for Golden Ages almost enough of a chore not to bother with the things.
On the other hand, that's exactly what I meant about the ore.

Okay, let's try this again without giving the appearance of flaming anybody
Some people like to micromanage. I like to micromanage. I did it in CTP, I did it in Civ3, (which was very micromanagerially friendly, if that's a word, ) and I'm doing it here in Civ 4. (No automated workers for me Fearless Leader tells all plebes what to do and when. Fearless Leader looks at every city screen EVERY TURN
Now maybe that means I have ADD, (attention deficit disorder, for those of you unfamiliar with American psychobabble.) Or maybe it means I really think I AM the Emperor Napoleon
But regardless, why can't there be some game features for "micro" guys too. ?

The civ1 paper events were not real.
It was a paper that showed up with a line that was funny but didn't affect the game.
The 'citizen demand aquaduct' things were not real random disasters, since you could prevent it by building an aquaduct in each city.
The "pirate raid" could take 50$ from a city, if it had no barracks.
Coastal city could get flood if having no city walls.
Earthquake could happen and destroy one building.
They wer good and flavourful part of Civ1.
And none of them was game breaker in any way.
Now, SMAC meteor his was just nasty. Nothing several as that should be part of random roll.

Did anybody forget that there is already one random event in Civ4?
Nuclear fallout.
Yeah, everybody just loves nuke plant meltdowns. Let's have more events like that . At least there is a solution to meltdowns: never ever build a nuke plant. But if the only point a feature is to avoid experiencing it at all costs, just don't put it in the game.
We Love the King Days are random too, but I never think about them. You can't use them in any strategy, you just get a bit of free money every once in a while. You could remove them from the game and reduce maintenance costs a little, and the game wouldn't change at all.
This is sounding like a rant, but IMHO, random events are unstrategic, annoying, and pointless.

Listen random events are fun if they are a sort of a strategic risk for the player to take or not, like if I don't build this in my city, there is a X chanche Y will happen to me (like the lazy hippie natural disaster you SHOULD have built more punisment spheres or orderd a random execution once or twice more ).We already have that kind of random in the game im just asking for more.
I'm not buying BtS until Firaxis impliments the "contiguous cultural border negates colony tax" concept.
You mean, now we need to build even more buildings? An "earthquake" building, a "volcano" building, a "riot" building, a "tsunami" building?
