    Re: Patch(es) won't install.

Fine. So I dl'd the exe for 1.09 (don't know where the auto-update went), and tried to install it. Now it also gives both error messages just like 1.52 did.

CivIV was installed to program files/firaxis games/Sid Meier's Civilation 4

Which I believe is the default path. Why can't either patch find the install?

I suppose I could uninstall the entire thing and try it again. But doesn't anybody have any hints before I go through that process?

    Thanks!

    In the registry key

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall

do you have a subkey named

    {CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3FB-D6E01F4112E8}

    ?

(Let me know if you need help with reading the registry.)

If not, that's probably the problem. See this thread for help:

(Before trying the registry modification mentioned in that other thread, you also could try to simply reinstall the game over the existing version. That might work.)

        Woohoo! Spiritual gets another bump!!
In my next marathon game I'm definatly going Spiritual as anarchy times are far more noticeable at that speed. They may have even increased anarchy times accross the board I dunno.

I usually like to stay with representation for the +3 science bonus along with mercantileism for the free specialist which is usually assigned as a scientist so +6 science per city can make up the costs of a larger empire science wise. I only switch from it when I need to buy units or buildings then switch back. Switching to Universal Sufferage always gives me a noticeable science ding.

IMO people underestimate the Spiritual trait because they don't change civics enough to get the most benefit from their current situation.

As apingaut already pointed out, you can guess. Or at least just check the strongest enemy unit.

            Petek,

Thanks for your help. I tried to just reinstall the game over itself first, and after I did that I was able to install both patches and finally got to say NO! to whatever 3rd party program they kept trying to install each time!

            Cheers!

Sabre, could just be that your network got disconnected during the download.

New Civlopedia looks better and more functional.

                    • hmm... just loaded up a modern-era save. some of my next-to-river-lumbermills aren't giving me +1 commerce/coin anymore, yet others are. can't seem to isolate the factor for which ones are affected.

                      EDIT:

okay, i think i see which ones aren't getting it anymore. any lumbermill will only touches a river on a bend (ie, only one corner of the lumbermill's square touches the river), even though it has "fresh water", it no longer gets the lumbermill river-coin-bonus

                      • The diplomacy screen changed for better, as did the Info screen.

The updated score graph was a mod coded by a user here.

Gratz to Ulfn for his contribution to 1.52.
