  • Since I installed the patch I get nasty lockups and CTD on large maps or even regular ones when the saves are over 500 kb. In corospondence with Take2 I am assured the patch is fine and the problem must be on my end.

Hello it worked OK before the patch if a tad slow. Great customer service they won't even admit they rushed the patch to help fix the rushed game.

    • I'm sure there will be more patches in the works. Firaxis like to take their time on these things. Meanwhile, try reducing the size of your virtual memory pagefile if you have enough RAM. Check and see if there's major hard drive activity during play, or if you're low on available system memory. Go to the Task Manager in Windows if you're using that and remove all unneeded processi from the list there; you can usually deduce which are extraneous and which ones you actually need. I still crash every few hrs or so in the game, but I'm a patient persons Good luck man

        • Yay, I think I´ll wait for that one. I didn´t notice any problems on my old comp, but I´d rather not test fate with my new one...

              • I hope the next patch makes it so that new players can no longer take over a dead player in a MP game. Sure, you can password a whole game but many people like having open games; we just want to make it so only currently living civs can be taken over.

You can always reinstall from scratch if patch 1.09 messes up the game.

Out of 179 voters, 50 report no problems before or after, 73 less problems than before, 33 more problems, 7 a game that is now unplayable, and 16 a game that is *still* unplayable.

In other words, 73 benefited, 40 suffered and 66 experienced no change.

It is a shame I will now be fearful of installing the second patch when it comes out. The 1.09 patch wreaked havoc on both my systems and made the game unplayable when it was fine (not even skipping movies) to begin with. This is even with a clean reinstall and install of patch. No dice.

I dearly hope the next patch will not cause similar problems.

Yeah, it's a RPITA (re)installing Windows. Tons of drivers and security patches and updates. Dozens of reboots.

                            Ugh.

                            • I have had some unit locations errors since I installed the patch. See image below. The image of the knight is one square south of his actual location. His flag is at the correct location. If I move to the tile where he is I just move to that locaction on the other hand if I move to the location with the flag I start an attack. I have seen this with some navel units too. I did not have this problem before the patch.

                              • Can someone help me with what this means?

can now add two specialists in size 1 city with Mercantilism...

I was playing a game with mecantilism in effect and I founded a city so it had a population of 1. I went to the city screen expecting to see two specialists. I only saw the normal one free specialist. Now I could pull the citizen off working a tile and have him be a specialist and then have two speacialists but wasn't I able to do that before the patch. Also why would I want to do this I need food to grow the city and if the one citizen is a speacilist I will never grow the city

                                What am I missing????
How does this new effect help?
