the mouse cursor coordinate bug is not from 1.09. I noticed it in 1.00.
Well, I really never had that problem with v1.0, but it surfaced immediately in all games in v1.09 for me... I'm just saying, ya know, I noticed it like the first turn of the first game after installing the patch, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't a problem for me before. Maybe some setting got changed somewhere with the patch, I don't know.

I've had the problem with city name/information appearing a tile away from the proper position, but rotating the map (ctrl + left/right) fixes it (providing you don't revert the view).
Would this help with the mouseover problem?
Doesn't appear to, no. Thanks for the suggestion though.
It seems I still can't play saves on my computer... I can load them up, but after a few turns, I get the screen showed underneath, (just as prepatch, but then I often couldn't get that far either), and are forced to reboot to get the computer working again... If I try the same save on the computer of my friend, everything works allright...

This whole v1.09 patch is starting to sound like a "cheap beta tester" approach:
-No word on the official web-site and no official release. 'Let the busy bees at CFC and Apo' do the beta testing'
--If the patch seems OK: GOTO Release
--If the words on CFC and Apo' is no good: GOTO Shut up and keep working on the v1.10.
It does make sence:
-We, the beta testers on CFC and Apo', get our patches we've been crying for.
-2K and Firaxis get the cheap (free) beta testing
-2K and Firaxis don't get bad PR from releasing a bad patch (they prolly got enough from v1,00 anyway).
-And finaly, the casual user get the update v1.15 {or whatever} bug free.
Everyone is happy

I've had nothing but problems with the patch. The game won't even run on my desktop now (when it ran perfectly before). It just begins the load process and immediately crashes. I'm very frustrated. On my laptop, the patch has corrupted all the NIF/KDF files (not sure which of the two, but one, or both) so that the animations are broken.
Again, the game worked fine before on both my desktop and laptop.
WTF!!!!
Looks like I have to reinstall on both systems and forget about "1.09"

I ran the 1.09 update and now Civ wont even start. You get the very first "loading... " screen and then it just drops back to desktop. Tried reruning the 1.09 update but it didn't help. Anybody know how to roll back just the update (I didn't see it in add/remove) or am I stuck with a complete unistall reinstall? Thanks

Well, I downloaded and installed the patch.
Unfortunately, it doesn't solve my problem with the game freezing my computer solid.
Fortunately, it does seem to improve the situation a bit, after I rolled back to version 78.01 of nVidia driver and lowered all the graphical details to medium. Of course, this could be just a random occurance, so further testing will be conducted.
Well, I am somewhat disappointed with the patch, mainly because it doesn't fix my major problem. The game still freezes my box solid at seemingly random intervals, even though I couldn't get more than a couple of turns with the saved game file of my latest game.
It also doesn't matter which version of video card driver I use it seems.
I ran memtest86 for almost 24 hours before and there was no one single error, so I don't think it's a RAM problem.

My problem exactly.
I don't think there's any way to role back the patch; I think we are both stuck with a reinstall.

Now the easy way to exploit this is to start a game, wander around until you find horses, settle on the horses, and research to AH and the wheel.
That means you have to wander around until you find some horses. You are not gauranteed any. Somebody else might have got there before you. Even if that's not the case, you are giving up at least 10 turns of building up, but likely to be a lot longer.
This is at most an iffy gambit.

After unistalling and resintall I got the stupid , 'Initialize Renderer' and had to download the PakBuild.zip file and unzip and move that again. Took me a good half an hour of messing with the stupid game before I got it working agian. If I had wanted a game that crashed so much I could have just gone out and boought an Xbox 360. Anyways once I got started I then promptly got overrun by barbarian swordmans. . I guess it just wasn't meant to be tonight. Very frustating all in all though.

The main reason for hiding horses until Animal Husbandry is that out of all of the strategic resources, Horses alone are the only ones shown at the start of the game. That is inconsistant.
Now the easy way to exploit this is to start a game, wander around until you find horses, settle on the horses, and research to AH and the wheel. Now you can build chariots, as your horses are hooked up without you having to invest in a worker. This means you could have invested into a barracks and can now start churning out the chariots and go rush someone.
This strat is only applicable to the horse resource though, as both Copper and Iron are revealed by later techs, and so you don't know where they are and can not settle on them.
That is a pretty big balance issue, and it needed to be addressed. If you have another suggestion, please post it. Whatever happens, it will be considered, and if it is found to be reasonable it will probably end up being tested, could end up being in the game. If the suggestion is utter bollocks and leaves the game unbalanced, it will be ignored.
What the heck are you talking about? How can you spot horses BEFORE you found a city and research Animal Husbandry

Re-read the quoted passage again. Esp the first paragraph.

Does anyone know if the patch has fixed at all the mouseover issue? In most games, the mouseovers for new techs, new units, etc., describing what they do, stop working--so I have to go on memory or guess. I was hoping that would be fixed in the patch.
Before the game would lag and lag in the late rounds before CTD, now it runs smoother but CTD every turn or two. So I am getting quicker turns, but twice as often I CTD. Sometimes it just drops to the desktop, sometimes it reboots. From what I am seeing and reading it sure looks like there are still SEVERAL bugs in the game to be patched.
This is just too bad, when I can play the game is it's really great. What a waste.

I have been playing a lot of Far Cry the last couple days and that plays fine. Have also done a lot of DOOM3 and HL2/Counter-Strike with no problems on this rig.
I wish Firaxis/Take2 would at least give us a heads up that they are working on it. This whole mess reminds me a lot of Sierra during the AT&T years.

Mouseover information was an issue being worked on. It isn't mentioned in the included readme, but that isn't an exhaustive list. If you still experience problems after patching, be sure to post in the bug thread and give your system specs.
