Why? Because you did what was right? In the end, you will see that it was better to do that than to steal it.

Just food for thought. (This is, of course, with the 1.09 patch)
Great, so now I only need to find another 150 quid for ram, and another 100 quid for a fairly decent vid card. Hmmm...where can I get the money?

I know! Does anyone want to buy a hardly played version of civ 4 for 30 quid?

That's odd, mine gives me a pop-up animation of Catherine's head saying 'we are about to lock up your entire system, please save now!'

The game should autosave every 4 turns (more if you modify the .ini). Look for the autosave subfolder inside your regular save folder to see if there is one more current. Be sure you don't start a new game before this or it will erase the old autosaves...

              • Supposedly she was quite the little vixen initially and they had to teach her some manners for the final release. Now if you'll excuse me, I've been meaning to see if I have any of the old beta versions left on my system...

Shame that the QA in some of these games companies doesn't come up to the same high standards...
Yeah, but your runs are all done in standardized conditions that are as close to your baseline as is machinely possible each and every time.

Now imagine that each of your runs had to be done in different conditions; different temperatures, different environments, different solutions... then you start to get an idea how hard it is to QA something that has to work with the billions of possible combinations of hardware and software out there.

                  • Does anyone else also have the problem of the wonder movies for the Manhattan Project and Internet not finishing? They both freeze and I don't get the info about what they do. But I can dismiss the movie box and go on with the game. It did this both before and after 1.09.

by that part of the game I am usually making 750-1000+ RP's so that's half a turn to 1 turn at most difference, whoopee.

Well its not like 2kgames is the only company making games for PC?!? It's still the most unstabel and buggy game I'll ever seen.

I have same video card but 1ghz RAM and 2.4ghz cpu. Were you having problems with video prior to the patches? I was not. Oh and I am running the latest nvidia driver which I downloaded from nvidia.com 2 days ago.
Never had a problem with the movies not running. I downloaded the newest driver from Nvidia yesterday 81.95 I think. I have 1.4 ghz cpu and 768 M Ram. Installed the1.09 patch and the saved game I had going before goes a little beyond where it was crashing before. I am not running any other programs.

Started a game on a huge map. That pesky freeze thing happens again. Worldbuilder on a small map, feeze. Low graphics quality, freeze. Movies turned off, freeze. Windowed mode, freeze. Sent email to tech support at 2k games but get no response. Just freeze, freeze, freeze.

Too many i think I also have this crazy habit of actually paying for the games I play. The problem is that its impossible to get a refund for a game that does'nt work - Belive me I'll tried 2 times to get my money back for civ4, but then the dvd-box has been open there is nothing to do.
But yes it's true that no game is perfect on release. But in this case we are talking about a game that hardly works at all. I mean games that totally freezes the system. Hmm reminds me of the good old dos/c-64 days.
