Is this a graphics driver or a sound driver?Originally posted by DoubleBlade
I have an Nvidia card.
Click on Nvidia GF at the top, and then click on Win 2k/Xp that will appear right under it.
I already updated mine to Nvidia 81.85 on their website, I don't want to mess with it because it fixed the blackout map for me.A wise man once said, "Games are never finished, only published."

Just wanted to say that I'm having the skipping sound only during Wonders. At all other times, movies play fine.
Win XP Pro Sp2
P4 1.8ghz
1gb RAM
9600XT
SB Live! 5.1
Game loaded with default stereo sound. I switched it right away to 5.1 - experienced the skipping. I tried switching it to EAX and all the sounds were messed up so I switched back to 5.1 and still skipping.
What is odd about all this is that it only happens during the wonders - the opening movies are fine, the movies when you found a religion are fine, but the wonders skip.

Same skipping with the Wonder movies. Not every time though... Only about every third movie skips. The sound settings don't change anything. I'm guessing it's something to do with the playback codec or whatever they use.

I also have a Santa Cruz, but I'm convinced it's a video (maybe a driver..) issue. Everything else works fine and when I tried Omega video drivers, there was a significant improvement in the videos (the game itself was a bit choppy though)Originally posted by SirSebastian
Intro and wonder movies skip. Only religion movie I've gotten so far didn't skip at all (it seemed very out of place =P).

What driver version do you have on your TBSC? I updated to the 4/3/2002 version (5.12.1.4161), but the most recent version (2003) wouldn't take at all.
At any rate, it also stutters on my secondary computer, which is also XPSP2 Pro but has integrated sound (an nvidia motherboard...) with a Geforce 2 MX 400 and 256 megs.Caelicola

Finally figuring out these settings were under "Speakers" was a nice surprise. The "System Configuration" choice made the game seem a lot smoother. I'd had a single "reboot" last week but I played 5 hours tonight with a much improved, smoother Civ4 and no reboot. Stuttering returned in 1800 or so during my Eiffel Tower movie, but seeing a difference for all that time gives me hope. Fun game too.Originally posted by Koyaanisqatsi I changed my audio settings from "Stereo" to "Use System Config" and it fixed my wonder movie skipping.Broogan Dreadbow
