  • So, the story.

Off and on, I've been at war with good Ol' Louie. It's been going well, but I was at a point where I had a base of his that really didn't have a lot of control. The old borders are signified by the red line.

A couple turns later, Ghandi declares war, and takes the base that can just be made out in the bottom-left corner.

Now, G's my friend, but we've had a bit of "your bases are too close to mine" problems, and I was rather concerned about him having that base.

I reload to an earlier save, to see if I could "save" a Great Artist for after G takes the base.

I try it, but the Great Work didn't do as much as I expected it to.

So, change of plans. I reload a save, drop almost all of my substantial profit into Culture, and rushbuy everything with that precious purple note in the base.

Methinks, in a few turns, I'll have that annoying Louie base

    • Looks like you could fit another city in on the right and down of those mountains and weasle your way in with another culture bomb later, even if G takes it again.

      • Another game, another Map of Ass.

Despite an odd start, I keep where my base is because it has 4 clams and a fish in its opening border.

That's the only thing keeping me from ditching this game.

Mansa Musa spawned about 12 squares away from me, so I decided to go northward.

North sucks even worse. There's a string of mountains to the left of this passage, leading up to Izzy.

I'm not doing too well, all the religions are founded elsewhere, and thankfully Izzy's religion has kept her happy. Not sure if I'm going to have to try and pull off an early attack on Manny just for land.

My scout valiantly battled the first bear attack, but the second was just too much... I guess the lion cleaned off the bones.

                        • A shot from the "flying camera" mode I recently learned about at the other forum (and perhaps old news here). Nevertheless, pretty cool.

                              • These are the instructions from Thunderfall taken from Civfanatics. Once you get the hang, there is some pretty nice eye candy.

"...To use it, you need to first activate it in the CivilizationIV.ini file, which is located under "\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4". Open the file in notepad then look for these lines:

                                ; Allow Camera Flying
                                AllowFlying = 0

Change the value to 1 and save, then in the game, just press ALT + CTRL + F to enable flying camera. After that, you can use the mouse to adjust camera angle and the arrow keys to navigate. To return to the normal mode, just press ALT + CTRL + F again..."
