    Of course.
This is great. All you reall need is one boat to make contacts, and you are set. AIs generally suck at sea invasions. Builder's heaven.

(Or was that a 2-city portion of land? )
    Seriously. Kung freaking fu.

    • Does it get much better for a Phi/Fin?

European trench warfare, BC style! (monarch, continents, large...)

Skirmishers v. Archers, now with extra 1500 AD flavor.

Later Alexander declares war on Isabella, but he's going to have a little trouble reaching her capital.

And just to keep the screenshots coming, I have one of many shots in which the AIs start way to close:

"You are one of the cheerleaders for this wasting of time and the wasting of lives. Do you feel any remorse for having contributed to this "culture of death?" Of course not. Hey, let's all play MORE games, and ignore all the really productive things to do with our lives.
Let's pretend to be shocked that a gamer might descend into deeper depression, as his gamer "buds," knowing he was killing himself, couldn't figure out how to call 911 themselves for him. That would have involved leaving their computers I guess."

          Not with me

One of the few games I had with a lot of water. Late in the game, I was behind in tech, Spain came at me with 2 destroyers, 2 landing craft fully loaded. So I sent my frigates on a suicide mission.

Spain lands, captures the first city with one force and starts pillaging with the other force

Same game, other side of the continent, Spains ally starts pillaging with aircraft

          ahhhh.....the memories

Oh you like that? : )

Here is that city directly after space launch:

            I estimate:

2 great artists (1 music, 1 from national epic+nortre dame in capital)
3 great merchants (1 from an early caste system, 1 economics, 1 from eiffel tower oddly enough)
And the rest priests. (only 4, I guess, since 2 were used for wonders)

And here is the capital/wonder builder/researcher/GP pump:

Used a great engineer for Nortre Dame and built Angkor w/o stone (first to Philosophy, obviously). Had marble for the rest...

This one is probably the best game I've played so far... (monarch/continents/large as usual)

Mali is so powerful... can hold its own in the early game w/o copper/iron/horses, financial for the long haul, and no anarchy for indiscriminantly switching between Representation and Democracy during space race.

Built the UN just for kicks... but it was funny, because for like 40 turns neither me nor my ally Cyrus could get a majority. Eventually I made secretary and managed to pass 1 world currency shortly before launch.

But does this not happen if you are disconnected (i.e. ocean in between)? If you have a way to contact them for trades using a Galley, you should be ok as far as techs go.

              • Got Religion?

                Got Religion?

Not having the Indians, Egyptians or the Spanish as rivals made getting 5 out of the 7 religions possible. That and getting Mysticism from a goodie hut early on. I used a Great Prophet to snag Theocracy and did the SC slingshot with the Oracle. I had stone in my city radius hence the Pyramids and Stonehenge. Once I had 3 religions in my capital holding back on expanding (since I was isolated) and hitting up Philosophy was a no brainier. This is on Prince difficulty. Christianity is spread to every city in the world, save the Incan cities as he won't go for an open borders agreement.

                      • True, but then I couldn't have needlessly increased my post count while at the same time showing that half the worlds population in my game follows my state religion.

“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
