see i knew i was not the only one. the apolyton staff guy said i was wrong, but i am not. when you click on the little light bulb it clearly says that you will receive that technology in one turn. and each time, it says a different amount of beakers, i am assuming it is how many you need to get that particular advance. this happened to me 3 times while playing last night. i have decided to use great scientists as super specialists from now on, this is just too annoying. i eagerly await the patch.

What I said is that the GP don't discover advanced techs in one turn, as described in the manual. I experienced what you described and the tech turned out to be 95% discovered when I switched to research it. I can't tell what is actually happening on your machine. If someone has a save right before this happens, Firaxis will probably want to see it- I don't recall hearing about this bug before...Enjoy Slurm - it's highly addictive!

Some suggestions for improvement when showing enemy moves:
Even when I select show all enemy moves in the options I still don't see all moves. Several times the AI has landed troops on my shores and I only discovered this when they started pillaging my terrain improvements.
Same problem with air units. When I intercept a fighter or bomber I would like to see it and not just be informed by a short message that quickly dissapears. As far as I remember you can't tell which city was hit by bombers either.

On the desert scenario the game will not end when it is supposed to.
-I captured all enemy cities, and the game stated "victory iminent : 10 weeks", so I thought ok I will finish those 10 weeks, however 3 YEARS later the game still runs, and no enemies anywere, and the game still claims "victory iminent : 10 weeks"
-I continued to play to see what happened, and after some turns I got the 100 turns remaining message, played those 100 turns, and then another 20. Still no end of game. When I then decided to "retire" I was told I lost the game.

If I'm remembering right, if the great person will get the tech instantly, then when you mouse over the lightbulb button, it will NOT show an amount of beakers."For it must be noted, that men must either be caressed or else annihilated; they will revenge themselves for small injuries, but cannot do so for great ones; the injury therefore that we do to a man must be such that we need not fear his vengeance." - Niccolo Machiavelli

I think one source of error is the fact that the game will say something like "will immideately provide XXXX points for TECH".
From my own gaming so far, I have all the early techs given in one turn, while the more advanced ones will still require some research.
It is the same with the engineer tbh, the later wonders will not be completed in one turn.

2 bugs I've noticed so far in the couple of games I've played:
1) After selecting archipelago you get 3 further choices: snaky continents, archipelago, and tiny islands. The first and last seem to have no effect as the globe graphic and text doesn't change and the the summary screen doesn't indicate anything other than archipelago.
2) After running the game for 7 hours or so , mousing over the GPp meter in a city fails to show the popup that has the accumulated points and GP type percentage.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but I notice that sometimes (especially during amphibious assault or attacking from a city) your troops will become invisible during the combat animations. It looks like the enemy is firing at thin air. Seems like a small bug and it occurs about 5% of the time for me.
I am running P4 3.2GHz 540
ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe
1GB DDR500
GeForce6800Ultra 81.94 Drivers
Anyone else see this glitch?
