That's exactly what happened with Rome: Total War. They blew the first patch on some MP issue, and then had only one more to work with. The second patch missed a couple serious issues that then remained broken until the expansion pack came out.

I must say I do, I think, for example, the PTW Demo game would have been even more intense.

I'm hoping to be blown away. They fixed the things I b*tched about with Civ3 and/or Civ2 (supid automated worker AI, infinite railroad movement, too many roads, corruption, pollution, no wonder movies, and general ugliness of the inteface taking away the epic atmosphere. I love the civics system and religion, although am POed that they were too PC to put in slavery and terrorism.
Terrorism has, in a way, always been in Civ. In the modern sense, terrorism doesn't deserve to be in Civ4. It is insignificant in a game of this scale. Terrorism, in one form, is a guerilla tactic of killing enemy soldiers few at a time - look at Iraq. In Civ4, you would control armies!

I've preorderd as well, but i'm sticking by option 2. I'm definitely going to buy this, but I don't think it's superOMFGamazing yet... just good. The 3d is probably most of what's turning me off to this for now ... not having seen it in real action yet.

The poll is titled "Based on what we know", and I got to know something today, what changed my opinion about the game. To be fair, my new vote would be #3, but it mentions reviews of Apolyton only, while I'd rather extend my research beyond the often biased reviews of one site only.
