If the Greeks were left out for whatever reason/blunder, would it cause anyone not to buy the game? or would everyone trudge on and wait for the mod?
Buy the game? I would anyway.
Be Sad? Yes.
Buy the Expansion with Greeks? Yep.
Continue to attempt to coax in any way I can? Definitely.

I would buy the game anyway, but I would be sad because I wouldn't be able to keep my longtime tradition of always playing the first game on any civ version with the greeks.

I'd tend to agree with that. We all are part of the "buzz" they hope a new product will generate before its release.

We may be considered biased.

paiktis and Markos would probably seethe and explode, organize a petition, et cetera.
The British Museum would not give in to demands to release Sid, the Turks would occupy half of a small Aegean islet, and the Venetians blow up an arms store in a classical ruin.
And a Greek actress of a certain age would appear as a weepy Chorus.
Standard Greek tragedy affair.

A bunch of nerds sitting around a Civ 4 forum discussing *shock* Civ 4 is hardly buzz. When I am sitting in my local coffee shop and I hear some elderly couple discussing "that new Sid Meier game," then I will know there is buzz

Well, just you wait for another 40 years. There'll be lots of elderly folks who were Sid fans. That is if we haven't all died from Civ withdrawal.

Why wait 40 years? There's a fair share of civvers who've passed the 50 on this site already, and a number of 60+ people too
Plus, withdrawal? That implies we'd ever stop playing Civ
Well, suppose there's no sequel to Civ4. Would we all keep obsolete computers for decades just to be able to play Civ?
