  • I've had only one CTTD, don't remember the context.

Occasional graphic glitches--flickering polygons, and whatnot--but they seem to resolve themselves with by simply saving and reloading from the same point.

Haven't used cone of cold yet. I'll have to try it out. I'm currently going through the Dwarven Kingdom level with my mage, Shale, Leilani, and the dwarf. Not a particularly good combination, as my mage is light on healing spells, and the enemies have scaled up in difficulty.

    • I got the game only a few days ago and I think I need to improve my management (tactical) skill.
My party members seem to do the most stupid things.

      Alistair was running left and right, hesitating between 2 foes, unable to decide which one to fight;
      my archer kept grabbing his bow while in melee, despite my orders to grab his sword;
and sometime my own character stops attacking, despite my explicit orders to do so (this one, I think I identify why: he was not set to chase enemies when they move).

I barely survived the ritual quest and got buttraped at the beacon quest.

      • Check your tactics page, you need some tweaking.

        • I restarted, with a rogue (dalish elf).
          With much more success.
I'm not sure yet if I'll make him a ranger or a duelist.

          • BTW, even when you have the tactics turned off or just a short list, the party members keep doing stupid things. I often find my healing mage in another room or toe to toe with someone (really would like it if you just stayed back and cast heal and offensive spells).

Even my main (a mage) does stupid things, I only have each self and heal party members as tactics, rest are turned off. He is pretty much a spell death machine, so I want him to be on staff weapon set to increase casting speed, but the f'ers always starting to switch if I get off him to give some specific orders to someone else.

Also, for some reason when I was starting, tactics was one of my skill picks, what a waste that was.

            Does anyone know if:

            1. Experience shown after a kill is given to each party member of split?
            2. Experience is given to party members at camp?
            3. The patch is buggy?
            4. I should even bother with the free downloadable content?

A couple of design decision that don't make sense now.

Mini-quests, yeah I signed up for them all, did not even really read them all.

Went back and talked to the "pay-pal," You are not even given a choice, all of the sudden, 20 health potions are toast.

So right now, I running with almost no health potions, except what I find from one battle to the next. That makes the tough fights kind of ugly.

Been banging the inventory limit now for a while.

Just went back to camp for the second time ever, can I equip party members there, or do I need to make a party, leave, equip, go back to camp, rinse and repeat?

            • You can equip your guys in camp, just go to the inventory screen and use the arrows to cycle through the picks.

Everyone gets the XP with kills or lockpicks or whatever.

Get the free content (assuming that this is free for you), if only to get Shale. Great character, great fighter, terrific addition to your crew.

Just make sure you pick up every elfroot you see, buy spare flasks from the merchant in your camp, and make extra health poultices as needed.

              • I need to readjust Sten's tactics.

I bumped him from use health potion at >25% health to >50%. He may be going a little crazy with them, but he was dropping far too often otherwise. Alister seems more of a tank anyway.

And since I don't have a thief, I'm getting really miffed at all the locked chests that I'm passing up.

Likely a good time to Drop Sten and try one of the thieves.

And nice, everyone gets experience, even the guys at camp.

Morrigan really hates me as I've total hosed up the camp dialogs with her (and even tried again to get another -10)

                • In my game both the DLC quest (I guess Shale is that golem I was offered there) and the quest given by the Jew in your camp glitched out. The first didn't spawn any locations on my map and the second just won't be accepted.

                  • Fighting the Dragon on the Ashes Quest:
                    Spoiler:

Holy crap I got pounded, had Alister, the bard chick, Wynn, and my mage. I though I was kicking everything's butt in the game. But this dragon is too tough for this party.

1st attempt was all party members go to the area and blow the horn to summon the dragon (not really sure if there was a cutscene or what) Dragon comes down off his perch and boom land right on top of my party knocking everyone down to 1/2 health and to the ground. He hit us again before we could even get up and only Alister was still alive (This was 3-4 second real time).

2nd attempt was botched as well. I probably spent about 45 minutes real time on this combat, and though I was going to make it, but I only was able to get the beasty down to between 1/3 and 1/2 health before things started going bad. On this attempt, I put only Alister in the middle, with everyone else at the corners of the area, out of range of its attacks. I even took control of Alister and ran away from the Dragon to start.

After that I decided that I was not strong enough with that party and my tactics were somewhat flawed. I need 3 mages and just let Alister tank while everyone else spells him from out of range and heals Alister.

                    • I fought that combat with myself (rogue, assassin/duelist), the bard chick (now also duelist) and Morrigan and Wynne. I learned the hard way that the secret is to have one and only one character in melee range at any given time and at least two mages healing that one character.

Also, I don't really see any point in having fighters. Heavy armor doesn't really seem to be anywhere near as good as having very high defense.

                        Spoiler:
the one in the elf quest.

As this was quite early in the game, I had 'only' Alister, Leliana, Morrigan (without healing spell) and myself (rogue, not specialized) all of us around lvl 7, maybe Morrigan was 8.
Potions only. And only 3 lesser Lyrium potions (mana potions).

Alister died first, knocked down and trampled by the dragon.
Then Leliana and myself alternatively attacked at closed range, until at some point, Leliana died too.
The dragon went after Morrigan and knocked her down. I managed to save her from the trampling by stunning the dragon (dirty fight).
                        We finally killed the beast.

This was my first encounter, we killed him on first attempt.

I had more troubles with the

                          • LOL, I'm 65 hours into this game and one of the things that has been bugging me is the camera controls. I could not figure how to look up or down. I found it by accident last night whilst fighting another dragon that was just as tough as the one that I passed on earlier, however, I actually had a few healing potions this time.

Also just keeping one melee character in range worked. Alister finally went down as the dragon chewed him before I could stun it (making me hold the "winter's grasp" spells until needed). I resurrected him and and got him healed up only for him to get chewed up again before I could do anything. So I sent Leliana in at close range and just pounded away with mage spells, Eventually the resurrect spell recharged again and I was able to move her away and let Alister continue to tank.

I'm already dreading what I know is coming, a shedload of enemies and a dragon, or maybe 2 dragons at once.

When you do have to face a "shedload" of enemies and a dragon at once, you won't be doing it alone. Concentrate on the dragon, and let your other allies focus on the rest of the horde.
