Yes, that is exactly what I was referring to.

There sure as **** isn't any black and white in this game, not so far anyway.

Yeah, it does not get any worse so far.

Completed the next quest (the battle). Very nice cut scene on the battle, reminded me of LotR.

I don't want to say anymore. But I'm not looking forward to babysitting duties at the grandkids house tonight. That will leave me no time to play until tomorrow.

Haven't gotten there yet. So far, this game has definitely earned its great reviews.

            PC

I'm nearly at the warden initiation (I think), so hopefully I'll get to be shocked etc. later tonight (if Civ doesn't happen) or tomorrow I suppose I should patch the game, though I haven't had anything worth patching yet, and have no problem with 'normal' difficulty (I always play on Normal once, unless it's way way too easy, and then move to Hard later if I decide I want a challenge).

Very nearly got overwhelmed during a battle, still early on (though past the initiation bit).

Fought valiantly for a long, long time, but finally three of my team went down (including my main character), leaving only the guy appears to be the main secondary character (at this point) with barely any health left and out of health packs (or whatever), and still four walking dead to slay.

I suddenly had the brainwave to run for my ****ing life back to the other end of the area where I had left some friendly knights earlier. Worked like a charm.

Nice I do love using actual logical strategies that would work in real life in games...

Guy, the end of the quest that you are on, it more mind-blowing than the initiation ending.

I'm in the next town, at least the mind blowing stuff has taken a back seat to mini-quests for the moment.

The only time I've almost gotten owned in battle is when I was not paying attention to the health bars on my characters, and I'm pretty stingy with potions.

The first time I fought a party with a mage in the warden quest, I almost got dropped, before I realized it, two of my guys were down still quite a bit of enemies standing. The one of the others dropped, and I was down to one, but managed to keep feeding him potions and just barely made it. But that was the first time anyone ever even went down. I freaked out for a second, since my main popped back up after the battle, but the other two did not. I was not close enough and when I went to gather loot, they jumped back up.

Now I have a choice of 5 party members. My main is a mage, and for now, has the only healing spell. I'm currently rolling with a tank, a thief, and two mages.

I usually let my tank do his "whatever it is he does to make all enemies go after him" while my main moves to the side and blasts away with area effect (cone) spells, currently have cone fire, ice (freeze) and lightening.

The other two members that I'm not using are the dog (used him for a bit, but really don't need a 2nd tank ATM), and the other new one that looks like a tank as well, haven't tried him though, just convinced him to join the cause.

The main quest seems so vague, I'm not even sure what to do ATM, so just doing the mini quests. (I think I supposed to go to this other town next). World map travel is like IWD. I turned of persistent gore, was tired of blood stains on me ladies.

Very tempted to play my elf mage along with my human warrior... not sure how much I like the warrior build right now. Guess if you have plenty to choose from, it doesn't terribly matter, though ...

How much control do you have over the development of the others? I guess if you keep the ones you get early on you'll have a lot of control, but like BG etc. you get fully filled-in characters at whatever level is appropriate for the point in the game you are at?

Not to give anything away, but one character is with you almost since the beginning, the other 4 started at level 7 (even though I was only just level 5 or 6 when the arrived).

Hmm...I think I'm going to RTFM tonight. A quick skim reveals no hard cap of level, so you have them after 7 at least. You have complete control of them while they are with you. Apparently you can piss them off and they will leave.

It took me forever to figure out how to cast spells. As long as you don't have a current target, you select the spell and then the target, but if you already have a target, you only need to select the spell. That took a while to figure out and I was trying the first action by default, even with one enemy. I kept thinking that I could not cast spells for some reason.

Yeah, had the same problem, Spaced.

Haven't completed the aforementioned quest. To hell with it, spoilers:

                        Spoiler:

Since I was a mage, and I'm trying to do "the right thing" most of the time, I decided to go to the Circle for help with the possessed child. The result being
                        Spoiler:
sucked into clearing out the Circle of demons and abominations, and eventually getting sucked back into the Rift by a Sloth Demon, where I'm trying to find and free my current companions: Wyeth(?), the old mage lady; my dog (whom I've named Dogmeat, natch); and the former cleric/rouge, whatshername.

In retrospect, I wonder if it would've been easier to sacrifice the arlessa.

Am in the first forest so far. Don't like that the monsters so far have been greenish-brown vague humanoids, all too similar. And all the UI stuff is too small, especially on my 24" screen. Health meters should be BRIGHT RED. And the notes system is a ***** to use. Who the **** thought numbering them was a good idea? And every time I want to consult one of them I have to scroll down and look for it. Why won't the text stay up?
However, ghetto elves . I am tired of high and mighty better than thou elves that Tolkien invented and so many people love.

                            Notes system is definitely confusing...

Just finished the tower, definitely wish I was a mage. Don't care for the mage we get, and don't have a single healing spell on any player yet [though I haven't levelled up the mage yet, so maybe the mage will have one available at the next level].

Wait, you didn't have a mage with multiple healing spells join you in the Circle Tower quest? Christ, I don't even remember getting a choice in that. And she's got a ****load of healing spells.
