the distinction between Perfect Dark and Golden Eye (which was relevant to the critique of Tom Chick) , would require folks who are familiar with the features of those games, etc. The question of why Tom Chick couldnt play MP would seem to be most easily answered by Tom Chick. Questions of roles of artists on development teams could be better answered on forums with lots of industry pros.

I was not speaking only to the debate with snoopy, nor in terms of required knowledge, did I mean only programming or hardware knowledge.

Oh please. This is a site for gamers. Most of the people who post in OG, I'd be willing to bet, have played those games.

I think most people who play Halo know what Goldeneye is. If you don't, you honestly should not be discussing Halo (considering you've not played that either).

Tom Chick is certifiably clueless if he made such a fundamental error in his review. There's no point in trafficking his forum to lecture him on the basics.

The roles of artists in game development is well-established. If you want to learn more, check out other sites. It's also kinda common sense, though.

My brother bought it last night and I played through the first couple of missions with him. I'm not much of a fps guy, but it's easy to pick up, easy to play, looks pretty, and the campaign has been interesting so far.

well he at least has a working 360, so he just may have greater insight on the status of XBL.

Why would I? Someone who is not a fan of Halo is "underwhelmed" by Halo 3? I'm shocked. Apparently she also doesn't like FPS games?

Even more shocked this comes from Destructoid, which I've already dismissed -- clearly I was on to something.

Someone should suggest to her she go back to her Wii Sports or Cooking Mama. There's no point in writing about a game you have no intention of playing in a genre you don't like.

That's a good article. I just watched about 30 minutes of a gamespot feature that basically shows some editor playing the actual game.

It was just single player, but it amazed me how similar it was to the last two games. No subtlety, just good graphics and lots of shooting. I can see why that can be fun...but not groundbreaking, especially the third time.

Seriously, what are the single player innovations that set this apart from Halo 1 and 2? The new guns? Really?

Multiplayer is a different story I'm sure, but I don't have friends on Xbox Live.

The groundbreaking part is not the single-player campaign. Read up on Forge and the multiplayer modes/options/capabilities.

And again, YES it is very, very similar to the previous games. And why shouldn't it be? Halo 1, 2, and 3 are all part of a trilogy. It's basically the same game, refined each time. That's the entire point, and that's one reason it's so widely loved -- if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I do not comprehend how people can take issue with the fact that they didn't radically change the gameplay in the 3rd game of a trilogy. Honestly, people...
