I beg to differ:

Two crappy games right there .

Imran, your opinion. Yes, it was a clickfest game, but I got used to it after a while, I enjoyed Diablo II a lot and Diablo I a fair bit (I started playing a bit late), so Blizzard served their purpose. :P

Starcraft I (that's what's it going to be called from now on ) was Blizzard's Golden Age. You might think the current WoW era is, but that's more like the decline before the fall.
Actually, I have high hopes for SCII. And I had thought that Blizzard was just going to bleed WoW dry.

Thinking about it, since many major characters were killed off in Starcraft I and Brood War, the few left standing will likely all have a part to play in Starcraft II. Here's the roster of the living:
Protoss: Zeratul, Dark Templar Prelate Artanis, Templar Praetor Taldarin, an incredibly old Dragoon, featured in a secret mission in the N64 version
Zerg: Sarah Kerrigan, Queen of Blades
Terran: Jim Raynor, Captain of the Raiders Arcturus Mengsk, self-styled Emperor of the Dominion Nova, the protagonist of the indefinitely on-hold Starcraft:Ghost (could make a cameo) Alexei Stukov, UED Vice Admiral (He was clearly killed in the campaign, but in the same funky N64 secret mission, Blizzard has him getting reanimated by the Zerg and infested, and then cleansed of his infestation by Raynor and Taldarin, using "nanoprobes.")
Other: Samir Duran, not certain who or what he is, he is making a Protoss/Zerg Hybrid, possibly for the Xel'Naga
As far as I know, all the other main characters got killed, but as we learn from Stukov's case, death is not necessarily a career ending injury.
