So you thought it was that bad, eh?

Well, like I said, I don't like the game much. I bought the game a couple of months after launch and the highest level I went so far is 5 or 6. That's my current character. I generally play a couple of hours and then I stop for months. As you can see, I'm not addicted. And, so far, I think the storyline is pretty lame. Generic fantasy crap. I'm not exactly sitting at the edge of my seat.

The side stories are better than the central plot.

In fact, I take it back. There was one bit of awesome gameplay - the Thieves' Guild and assassins' guild (forget the name) quests.

Just to make a note, some people (such as myself, and apparently Asher too) get their fun from games just from the environments ability to immerse the player.

On release sure, but it's not been overrated at any point more than a few weeks after that, as it didn't take long for everyone to realise how bad it was.

Maybe I'm the only one that thinks equality of units should be left to chess, at least as far as RTS games go.

The other thing that bothered me about WCII is that nobody ever missed (much like in SC; no attack ever missed in SC unless the defender had higher ground or was behind a tree). C&C had a much better projectile system in which accuracy was actually something to consider.

Of course, WCII had its own attractions - usable naval units, for one. I preferred C&C and I think that WC2 was, and remains overhyped - SC actually deserves its praise as a revolutionary RTS, as does WC1, but WC2 wasn't much more than a graphics upgrade.

For me, the most overrated game I've played is Metroid Prime.

I hate boss battles. You go through so much unfun work to get to the wretched things, and you are rewarded with a stupid giant slug or a giant robot of some kind, with a very specific attack pattern which you must memorise in order to kill the stupid thing.

No it wasn't. It was highly hyped. Everyone knows black and white is ****. It has a reputation for being one of the biggest disapointments ever. That's not being highly rated.

Only idiots were disappointed by Black & White.

I followed the game from the moment I first heard about it - about two years before its release. My expectations were exceeded - and I'm a very hard person to please.

I can only speculate that the gaming media magnified Molyneux's typical enthusiasm to a point where your average, retarded person bought the game expecting the creature would have undreamt of AI sophistication.

These fools were of course disappointed with what they found, and became bitter because they wasted their money, and now their only satisfaction is to sully the game in threads like this.

If you could see past the disappointment of your unrealistic expectations, you would find a game that was really quite fun, despite pathetic creature AI.

Just because it stop being overated did not stop the fact it was overated.

Yes, the sidequests are one of Oblivion's strong points. I didn't start the thieves guild/assassin's guild yet.

WC2 was undeniably the better game in MP. In SP I preferred it but it's debatable.

Man this thread is upsetting me as I keep having to QFT usually dodgy posters.
