I learned the hard way not to buy games before reading reviews.

Star Wars rebellion is one example.

And then some reviews just suck. Black and White is another example. That game got exellent reviews.

Rebellion would have been awesome if it had a decent control scheme. And was balanced. And it the little starfighters (the units most battles in the movie and other SW games) actually were worth deploying in battles. And if the whole premise made sense. I mean, the Imperials aren't even in charge of all the big industrial planets at the start.

Oblivion wins imho

I was so glad when i got rid of it on ebay( i got half my money back atleast) - a huge disappointment. Stacked next to all the previous games in the series it was a huge downgrade for a TES(well apart from the graphics).

I think it single handedly made me give up on most of mainstream gaming(the final nail in the coffin so to speak).....and definitely Bethesda's ability to make deep, involved and interesting games.

Add to it the whole "pay for mods/patches" ethos and it rates as my most over rated game ever! A true champion!

I now happily play Daggerfall+ super mod Morrowind and try to forget it ever happend.

Half Life 2
It was cool and the physics were great, but it had a really stop nad go feeling to it. The actual combat sequences went by too fast (maybe I'm just too awesome?), and then there would be some puzzle or switch to go find.

The Halo Sequels
Halo is good but the sequels were way over hyped.

Final Fantasy Series (mainly everything after 7)
I've usually hate menu based games (Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, & Earthbound are slight exceptions), and to try and exhibit the slow ticking down HP with the careful choice of attacks etc. as "skill" just seems absurd.

Dance Dance Revolution
Is the popularity of ecstasy to blame for the rise in this game's popularity? Seriously, WTF?

WoW and Guild Wars
Don't get me wrong, WoW was fun for the 20 minutes I tried playing it, but I have met far too many obsessed people who will not quit telling me to buy a copy of X MMO just so we can play online together. It's like the new version of Christianity. (oh holy **** can you imagine an Evangelical MMO? I thought fundamentalists were bad enough as it is.)
