Druids are much better at soloing than Paladins.

I'm sure the healing spells help for Druids . I haven't been a very multiplayer type of guy (I think I've played one game of SMAC online and little bit of Guild Wars when I mostly soloed), so I'd rather solo for a bit to get the lay of the world before joining up with others .

I think it'll be easier to join up with others later once I know what the Hell I'm doing .

Just checked my realm. I'm in "Undermine". Btw, I wasn't all the creative with my name (seeing as, of course, most of the recommended ones were taken). I'm "Imrand". I added the 'd' because it made it sound more Elvish .

Btw, what professions should I stay away from? I'm thinking I'm thinking of doing Skinning and Leatherworking.

Skinning is decent early on and easy to level. I'd take another primary skill with it.

Is Leatherworking not a good profession then? I was under the impression that it was a primary as well.

(Btw, can we rename this thread to "Imran's WOW questions" now? )

Nah, leatherworking is making armour from materials for classes that can wear leather, like rogues.

Well Druids can wear leather .

But I get your point... better to sell the skinned hides at a higher profit and buy leather armor.

Mostly crafted stuff isn't worth the hassle (there are a few exceptions throughout, but very few bind on pickup, so purchasing usually remains an option), with the main exception being some resistance gear for endgame raids.

Mining is the best for money. Crafting pretty much loses money..

I would recommend going Feral for DPS. The bad thing about Pallies, even more so a year ago, is their attrocious DPS. The Druid can get up to decent DPS (not great, not amazing..), which with healing and other nice skills makes for a decent Solo and Team class.

The Paladin has defense, buffs, and healing, with attrocious DPS. This makes them suck for soloing (at least when I played mine).

(also, their lack of a taunt means that their defense isn't generally used)

Ah... maybe I'll look into Mining. Though I guess I'll use Skinning first, and get some secondary skills (cooking, fishing, first aid) and then keep the second primary open for a bit.

Jon, I think I have to hit level 10 before I can shapeshift into a bear or cat.

Btw, are there any good sites which give you strategies? The official site is great for background info, but they aren't going to tell you which is good and which is bad and stuff.

Maybe I'll be a tailor and make colorful shirts, along with many bags .

On my first character, a paladin, I took mining and blacksmithing all the way to 60...now i'm broke. With not too much good gear to show for it. I'm STILL trying to scrounge enough thorium just so I can make myself a subpar set of Imperial Plate armor.

On all of my alts I have since been trying the gathering professions up until I hit 30-40 for money making (skinning and herbalism), then i'll switch to some sort of crafting. That might be something for you to consider if you can fight off the urge to want to craft things.

With the exception of my mage alt. He has tailoring. oh, and my priest alt who has enchanting.

But the thing now, is that I have about 4 or 5 alts on the same server supporting each other with money and/or items. (For instance I will funnel unneeded green and blue items that my characters pick up to my priest to disenchant).

I even made 3 alts on a horde pvp server for the same reason...and I wanted to try the game in the pvp world.

                          I need help...

oh and i'm sure you've heard of the famous thottbot.com to find where every quest is. Consider it somewhat of a cheat.

As for discussion sites, I have yet to find one that isn't a "L2P noob" festival, although some of the specific sub forums of the wow site are occasionally fruitful. Just steer clear of the general.

Also, the wow site does link to some other sites.

This is the first I've heard of it . I don't need to know where quests are yet, but maybe they have some strategies. I'll check it ou.

I don't plan on posting to the WoW official forums. The community has been built up and I know the attitude towards newbs.

I'm so newb, I don't even know waht L2P noob is!!

                              Thanks, I'll check it out.

And thanks for sharing your experiences with professions. I'll definately keep it in mind.
