Finished the first senario last night with one competitor. Wasn't much of a competition, as I started in LA and milked the LA to SD passenger and mail route....big time cash cow.
Strange that I complete the objectives for the senario and then nothing happened (I had to retire myself). I was expecting an interupting "you won" screen (with an option to continue of course). Miss!
I did figure out how to place signal towers where I wanted them on long single tracks. Basically just build drag a small segment of track off the main line where you want the signal tower and then delete this small piece of track; the signal tower will remain.

The theory of that scenario thing is that you play to the end of your selected time period to attain the highest score possible. But I agree, there should be an option to tally your score, giving bonuses for a quick time, the moment you beat the scenario and/or the AI players. After you've kicked everyone's arse, playing by yourself just isn't as much fun, anymore.
From what I'm hearing the game sounds like it was rushed.....Lack of a decent AI will keep me from buying this one for now...This makes Firaxis just another game company I guess.....
This game was pretty clearly designed from the ground up to be a multiplayer game. But the AI is fine, it's just the pathfinding that has an issue. A patch is going out to QA around the end of this week, and we're hoping it'll have some pathfinding tweaks included.

I'm hoping they also add the ability of scaling the map graphics, just as we can with the trains and cars. I personally find the scattered industries to be too large, especially now that I've made my trians smaller.
