This is one of the games I'll keep an eye on, but after the letdown of the last two Railroad Tycoon games, I'm not that optimistic about it

I haven't played either of them. What made you not like them?

I agree, and I asked Firaxis which it would be more like.

They said that they disliked the last two strongly.. and were making it different. This is somewhat shown by the fact they are dropping Tycoon from the name.

Note that Sid made the first one, which was good.. other groups have made the last two.

I'm not sure, I just didn't like them. Been a while since I played then, had you asked me back then, I could probably give a good reason, but now I've forgotten why

I didn't play the first RRT game much, so I couldn't compare to that game

Enjoyed the first two but really didn't like the 3rd one although I think they should get some praise for trying something different. The way cargo could move on it's own down rivers etc added some good gameplay. Sadly many other aspects were flawed and it was one of those game where the 3D didn't add anything for me and actually made it harder to play.

I prepaid at a local outlet, told me it is scheduled for October 17 release..I had heard later in month..but looking forward

1st one was great. The next two were ok for a short time.

I'm glad Sid is bringing it back and from the looks of that screenshot, it seems like it will be a good one again. I will get this for my Dad when I return to NZ in Jan (hopefully!); he also played this a lot.

My favorite part from the first one was balancing turns in the track versus elevation changes. I can't believe they took this out/dumbed it down.
