  • Well, my overly orderly mind just finds that too chaotic I guess...

So I just play with two AI's for now.

    • Heh heh. My mind works in chaos mode. It's probably the easiest part for me.

In all honesty, though, I think the more you play it, the less chaotic it will feel. If you just started playing, the fast-paced nature of the game is pretty overwhelming without the interference of the track design. Keep me posted on how it's progressing, and let me know if you get stuck with anything and I'll do what I can to help you out. I'm no genius with the game, but I get by alright.

      • The game is awesome but I am getting some crashes. I'll be playing along and then suddenly it's like the game can't keep it up, it just stops and exits to windows after a minute or so.
'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

        • How much are multiplayer games at the mercy of the random map generator? not that Im bitter about being wiped off the board in my first game, only 1 guy had 3 sawmills next to a city that would convert, and the capital which would demand manu goods, thats just a license to print money while Im stuck in the corner

edit: hmm next game I wipe the floor with everyone as I start at las vegas on the south west map. I guess the balanced multiplayer maps are there for a reason

Indeed There's still some randomness, but less than in the scenario maps.

Exactly how do I make sure my second train operates on the new track versus the first track?

              Hope I made myself clearer
The best way I have found is to start making then 2nd train when the first is at the same station the new train starts from. It will always start on the other track, provided that track reaches the destination.

              • ok - NE America scenario.

I set up my very first coal-steel-car-metropolis line.

Bought the relative industries - Cash flow... sky high!

                I like this game !

BTW: if you produce paper in a city and to make money out of it : do you need to transport this paper to another city that has a newspaper factory or can you build a newpaper factory in the paper producing city.

                • You have to deliver the goods to a new city to make money. Same goes with ANY resource. For example:

You decide to make a production line for mucho dinero. Coal to Steel to Cars to Car Delivery. You can't deliver Coal to a place that converts Coal to Steel AND Steel to Cars and still make Cars for delivery in that city. You must deliver the Steel to another city that produces Cars before they will be made. Realistic? Nope. But it keeps the game balanced because of it.

You CAN make those industries in other towns, though, which can be a really good idea. Especially early in the game. Creating industries is expensive ($500,000) but it'll pay off long term if you have a solid industrial line. Just remember that players can come in and take those goods if you're not watching. Sometimes it's a good idea to actually cut the line so that your opponent won't make off with your hard earned cash. Maybe start that stolen industry in another location, or simply try to focus on a new resource.

And, of course, the best way to own an industry is to buy one that's already created by putting it up for auction. You can typically get those at a fraction of the price depending on the aggression of your opponents. Unfortunately, the industry is bugged in ver. 1.0, but the patch is said to address it. As it stands, the industry only gives money to an opponent who delivers to your industry, instead of the person who currently owns it.

                  • Of course, it works the other way too. Let your opponent deliver coal to a refinery then come in and deliver the steel to a factory for much more income.

                    • Me played for a whole 30 minutes without a crash last night.

I like the game, don't like the crashes.
We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

                        • Ive been playing a fair bit of multiplayer (mostly successfully I might add )

The games are short and fast paced, I need to concentrate for the first 10-15 minutes and the games last no more than an hour which makes for very focused action, and plenty of fun

Now, I dont know how to delete track

Also, Im thinking about aggresive track placement, mostly to force my opponents to build bridges to access my cities, any other ideas? I guess I do this by placing my track to the edge of the green circle closest to my opponent

The trick seems to be to get a short route running asap to get some money coming in.

I thought the quad island map were supposed to have one civ per island, but it doesnt seem to work that way

                          • The AI tends to put their tracks towards the edge of the green circle around mid-game. Aggressive bastards. Me likey.

To delete track, just highlight and press delete or hit the X in the track info window!
