Speaking of Harper scouts, has anyone ever played this prestige class? From what I read, it's more like a joke.

I never have, but since you can only take 5 levels in it, then it is a bit of a joke. Tymora's Smile is supposed to be quite useful, but since you can do better with a couple of spells then why not just go for caster levels?

Ah ha! I was being a right bastard to everyone in Hilltop. Guess I'll have to suck up a little.

Ralphie is right - do the quest and you will always be able to portal immediately back when using the ring (you still need reagents to portal).

Having said that it's really lame and only for nubcakes.

But only a little. While in the original NWN it paid well to not be an ass, or better: it was hard not to end with 100% good points, SoU and HotU have somewhat better alignment choices (still far from supporting good roleplay, though). So you can slide in the lawful-chaotic direction too. Watch out not to meet too chaotic decisions, if you're a monk, or your abbot may kick you.

Yeah, I'd rather spend five minutes running through areas I've already finished off.

Sorry - but without a world map, the teleportation thing is necessary to alleviate the boredom of re-tracing my steps again and again.

By the way, I've decided to solo SoU with my Fighter/Weapon Master - any drawbacks? The available henchmen are down right annoying.

No drawbacks, you can solo SoU easily with any class. Dorna is ok as henchman, though, and somewhat useful disarming/unlocking, although the two XPs are much less of a "locked-trapped-chest-which-contains-22-gold-and-a-torch"-fest than the NWN OC.

You should keep in mind not to ruin your char, as you can re-use him in HotU.

                  Yup - that's my intention.

Or you could just not die all the time?

Thank you Sir Ralph! I finished the herb quest and now the harper chick is teleporting me back to where I used the ring. Much better!

I'm not dying. I'm using the ring as a shortcut back to Hilltop. Where did I mention anything about dying??

Teleporting back for that reason is perfectly acceptable and not nubcakelike in any way.

I got the impression you were abusing the teleports to stay alive.

You shouldn't assume, that others use your own nubish habits.

I think I learnt it from you Ralphie.

How offensive! Thinking I'm tricking the system. Hmph.

I just realized that I screwed my character build. I should have gone Barbarian -> Weapon Master instead of Fighter -> Weapon Master. Having only played humans recently, I forgot about the whole non-human XP penalty for multi-classing.

Oh, well. I'll just suffer through the XP hit.

Weapon master is a ****ty subclass for SoU/HotU. There are so many great weapons to find, no need to limit yourself with a favored one.

By the way, presitge classes are exempt from the XP penalty.
