Epilogue: All's well that ends well
Poly Siffan was quick to speak up. She had recently done some research into the various organizations in the Galaxy that had been referred to as "Societies," and found that Professor Morissa's ancestors had been in charge of one of them. Ciann Pollus quickly agreed with this analysis.
However, Min Grah then spoke up, announcing that he and his detectives had made a breakthrough in the investigation of the murders. Specifically, a cryptic message had been found embedded in the papers that the notes left by the killer were written on. While he was not yet sure how to interpret every aspect of the message, he was quite certain that it pointed to Ciann Pollus. Mr. Y, Professor Morissa, and Agath Agathari all agreed with Min's findings. Senator Danq was reserved and declined to make up his mind immediately. But a majority had voted for Ciann Pollus, and I ordered the Palace Guards to execute him immediately. He struggled ferociously, and babbled something about Senator Danq having abandoned him, but the order was carried out.
Subsequent further investigations revealed without a doubt that Ciann Pollus had been responsible for the murders, and had been plotting to seize the throne and replace the Empire with his so-called Ultimate Society Zone. Interestingly, the idea of the Ultimate Society Zone had its origins in a bill proposed jointly by Pollus and Senator Danq when they were in the Imperial Senate together (though in the bill, it went by a different name). However, as Pollus's vision of the USZ grew increasingly megalomaniacal, Danq had distanced himself from the idea.

Here are all of the clues:
The title of Chapter 1, "Murder in a time before LazorZ...", ends in "Z"; the second Chapter title was to end in "o", the third in "l", etc. However, the premature death of Zol Ventis in Chapter 2 cut off this clue.
In Chapter 1, every paragraph begins with the letter "S". This was similarly the beginning of a series of clues pointing to Skanky Burns, but was abandoned when he was killed by the other mafia.
Each Chapter contains a number (though the first chapter contains more than one number), and the 4 numbers form the sequence 57-56-52-51. The differences between successive numbers are 1-4-1, or, translated into letters, A-D-A(-G-I-O). Incidentally, I did not originally intend to make a clue with numbers (the 57 in Chapter 1 was just a random number I put in), but then snoopy mentioned something about thinking the 57 might be a clue of some kind, so I decided to make it one.
The notes, of course, contain the clue found by Chaunk (and, of course, "quote" in the 3rd note was meant to suggest how to find them; I think that by coloring it blue I made it a little too obvious). However, his analysis of the notes is a bit off. When we align them properly, they read:
Code:{a href="ACP"}{/a} {a href="dio"}{/a} {a href="aal"}{/a}
It is a shameful day for this site when no one can tell that "Ultimate Society Zone" is a reference to "Apolyton Civilization Site" (note the colors in the Apolyton logo with the default skin). The (co-)creator of Apolyton is none other than (Markos) Giannopoulus, aka Ciann Pollus. Of course, this clue also points to Senator Danq.
I suppose the "slowness" of "ppeenneettrraattee" could be seen as a clue to Adagio, but I intended it as a random red herring.
Finally, the fact that the beheaded bodies were found in an "old abandoned government building" is a rather obscure reference to the fact that Ciann Pollus is a retired Senator.

What a sad day
I doubt anyone could have given me a worse birthday present, as the one Chaunk gave me, when he presented all the clues that pointed at me
Anyway, congrats to the survivors
But it felt great to take out the other mafia, with my first killThis space is empty... or is it?

I think this is the first game that Professor Morissa has seen the end of
Thanks to Chaunk and the other voters (I confess I didn't exactly believe his reasoning and only joined the pile in self preservation).
Good game Civman
