If I thought about the number of games I bought and wish I didn't then my head would probably explode.
Far to many but most of what people have posted here and didn't like are among them.
I'll never by a MMRPG again, ever. I usually get addicted to them but only for a month or two, do nothing else. Waste all that time before getting sick of it and quitting then wondering why the **** did I play it in the first place? Its not like I like being sociable and many people that play these games are idiots. It was often like coming home from work just to go to work again for no reason. I've played CoH, EQ2, Jumpgate, Galaxies, Earth and Beyond, EVE, Anarchy and probably a slew of others I have forgotten about.
I've finally learned never to touch one again though. It only took a dozen or so over a decade I think.
The only one I don't regret is the one that cost me the most. Neverwinter Nights. Not the new one that came out a couple years ago, I'm referring to the original one on AOL in the mid 1990's that was basically an online version of SSI's AD&D gold box games. I spent way too much time playing that game and this was back when online dial up rates were insane. Like 50 hours for 20 bucks then 2 dollars for every hour after that, I forget what the rates were. I racked up several 300+ AOL bills back then. Some players especially couples who played together would rack up 1000+ AOL bills playing NWN because of the hourly rates of just being connected to the internet then.
The bright side was only the people who really enjoyed the game and role playing would be on all the time not that many could afford to (like me). I went to a convention and met several of the people I played with in Orlando one year and had a blast. That’s why it was worth it despite the high AOL bills I racked up. I didn't care much for AOL back then and hated them ever since they cancelled the game in 97 or 98 I think it was.
I was young. All my friends where playing paintball and they never invited me. I thought this game could make up for it. I've been embarassed of that purchase ever since. Only the hundred dollar vibrating mouse can compete with it.
It had nothign to do with my friends. I was caught up in the hype for Black & White and they where promoting it's compatability with "touch sense" mice, so I wenty and got one in preporation for the game's release. I'm never going to forgive myself for that one. Humilitation of my life.
I dont buy games anymore that i havnt played for ATLEAST a week to make sure i like it.
And to verify, that yes, the program will actually run

Why would buy a game and not play it?
games I own but havent played (yet)
Divided Ground - part of the Talonsoft Eastern Front-Western Front-Rising Sun series, with scens from the Arab-Israeli wars. Dino 'puter wouldnt run it for reasons unknown, and EB no longer took returns. But it only cost about $4, so i just kept it. It will be one of the first I try now that we've got the new PC.
Escape from Monkey Island - got it a few months ago, simply havent gotten to it yet.
and the games in the Paradox Strategy 6 pack OTHER than EU2. Vickie, HOI, didnt have the specs for (do now) Crown of the North, and Two Thrones, simply didnt get to (theyre not really what I bought the pack for) ditto for EU2-Asia Chapters

There are ganes that I had bought, kept, then disposed of without playing.

Ooh, play it. And might be best to do it on your new machine, as it's reasonably big IIRC, and will probably run better anyway.
see, lists, do help. I have more gaming time on the dino PC. But my gaming time on the new PC will be limited. Ergo, I will limit that to games that DONT run on the dino.
Is Escape a game that would benefit from more RAM? (ie 64 meg vs 48 meg)
