  • Baldur's Gate (again)

Help Spikey! Which mods should I use if I'm starting this fresh?

I played through the whole series about a year or so ago (I think duke o' york was playing at the same time), and want to give it another go. Would be nice to have some subtle (or not so subtle) changes, so mod recommendations would be welcome.

heres one of them, but not the best one i seem to remember?

as for which mod - i'm not sure not having tried one.

another, but still not the one......

Use the mod that gives you bigger quivers! It's a pain in the butt using arrows that run out after 20, which will not last through a half-decent fight if you've got a good archer. The elf thief-fighter, whose name currently escapes me, has 5 stars with a bow, and is incredibly good at using up all his arrows in a fight. I finished it (eventually - refer to the previous thread for my frustration at having murdered a seemingly random bloke who was vital to the plot ) last summer, but have yet to try BG II yet - even though I've owned it for almost 2 years.

Note - no matter what your alignment, do not kill strangers who don't attack you first!!!!!!!!!

Actually it's only three and his name is Coran. Along with Kivan and a thief/mage Imoen they make a fairly good ranged team that can stealth and quite easily launch some good first attacks against enemies.

              What!

duke - install it NOW, and play it. You will not be sorry.

coT - thanks for the sites. I know there were some specific mods that DrSpike suggested in one of the old threads... I'm hoping he pops in sooner or later.

I'm not a big fan of gameplay mods for RPGs - I do like the tutu program which allows you to play with the BG2 graphics and interface though.

Jam will post if he sees the thread (maybe PM him). His knowledge of BG is almost boundless, and he can probably help more.

Ah yes - maybe it was Jamski I was thinking of. One of you spammers...

Installing tutu as I type - forgot about this great utility.

Meh - I think I'll just start playing with tutu and hope there wasn't something else spectacular that I'm missing.

I had huge problems with Tutu on my machine, and ended up playing the game without it.
Shame, because I had a really good roll for my fighter. Hohum.
I really ought to reinstall BG II.
Well, school doesn't start until next month (I hope - they still haven't decided on the courses yet, despite sending me an e-mail that they'd definitely do it. Only at my old job, so I no longer have it, and can't sue the asses of them ).

                          Yes!

My party was me (pure mage), Imoen, Coran, Jaheira, Khalid and Kivan.

I gave Jaheira the enormous shield of arrow avoidance (not its real name ) and the poison dagger you can buy from the blacksmith in Beregost and stuck her up front. She pwns!

Get Weidu's Ease of Use mod. This makes the game SOOOO much more fun to play by removing a couple of annoyances without changing the game mechanics.

                            For BG1

                            For BG2

                              Ah, the master has arrived...

So, if I'm using tutu, does that mean install the ease of use mod over bg1, then tutu, or tutu and then the bg2 ease of use mod?
