You'll still spend ages on the galaxy screen.
yep.its time for my morning sendout-11 large trannies,31 smalls divied in 4-5 fleets(think i researched another puter tech last night)

score is only up to 597 as opposed to doubling the night before, but ho hum

i (might) have cruisers by tomorow or the next day, depending on how stiff the research times(and costs) are and will be.its only 1 hour research time now,but highlvl impulse could take forever

why? i dont want colonies.i want bigassed spaceships with lots of guns

theres a bunch of guys juicer than that one coord i posted, and id like to crack their defences.(easily) they arnt that well defended(of the ones ive checked anyhow)

edit;and i could scoop up half a million of resources today just from inactives if i keep them busy.yesterday i accidentally sent to some mostly empty players, but now i have twice the people running around and should get alot more. colonies seem very passive, esspecially when my mines only get 941M\hour atm(which isnt that bad for low cost)

When I will have 9 planets and you 1, come back and compare our output both from raiding and producing..

It is only a good idea if they're inactive, if they're not, they will save their resources and you'll only provoke anger.
Also try avoiding raiding inactive guys from alliances stronger or on par with ours as well as actives from any sort of alliance (unless you're really sure it's puny), otherwise you can put us in danger.

And I repeat again - you're very lucky to land where you are, I just raided the best inactive around and it happened it had already been raided by 2 other fleets and was not far from empty..

I make over 10k of metal an hour, 9634 crystal and 4677 deuterium. Sure, raiding gets me a large amount too. But 240k metal each and every day is not something you ignore.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

That is sizeable. Is that from all your planets and colonies or just the home one?

I guess that's from all, but with significant investment, you can get that out of one too.
The good thing about investing in planets is that their income is constant once you've invested - nothing can stop them producing, while fleets are stopped pretty easy..

i didnt say i was never making colonies. i just dont want to sarcrifice res-es from raiding for some now.id likely feel different if i had less targets

I see no reason not to attack any inactive, regardless of they are allied or not or who the alliance is. I have only seen one of my inactives become active again and I would think that if they come back they are going to have a long list of targets and wouldn't worry too much about attacking them.

I also think (like bT) that Colony ships should be built well before any offensive ships. Why not settle your 8 colonies before you start raiding defended players or active players. As Skanky states your production increases dramatically with 8 colonies.

                          That explains.
My plan is to go max planets (9 is the max number) and then build up my military and raid all the while improving the infrastructure of my planets (how does nine L20/20/20 mines sound? ).
In my opinion fleet is a short term investment and should be used only to get more resources to planets (for infra and research), whereas infrastructure is long-term one with it's best characteristic being it's invulnerability.

I also consider defenses to be underrated by most players.
If combined with shield domes and good research level in weapons, defense and shielding, they're 3 times as cost effective as most ships (but bombers and destroyers and DS*) plus the 70% rebuild capability..
                          * - bombers, destroyers and DS fall into special defense-busting category, but looking at the fact that barely anyone uses them (even precision crash uses BBs + some fodder) and their statistics following thoughts come to mind:
1.destroyers - could be a problem if one built several of them and sufficent fodder, but again, they're damn slow and face the same too-late-to-arrive problem, plus the fact they only have rapidfire to lesser of commonly used defense - small lasers.
2.Death Stars, now they're slow, real slow, I'd go as far as say they have no chance in assisting a raid, only crushing an incoming fleet.

Bombers are somewhat better at killing defenses though their slow speed will only allow to strike me nighttime I guess.

i thought they are quite strong, with the 70% thing and they dont make debris field and should be unattractive to attack, and they build fast(Slasers)

You don't actually need to stop investing in fleet.
Colony ships cost 10/20/10, while your fleet only costs 6/6 which means most of your deut is left unused, plus there's some metal surplus.
Get some more crystal and you can pump out those colonies pretty quickly!

i thought they are quite strong
Well, Germanos once expressed that 'only defense you need is 2 missile launchers for non-military raiders and fleetsave'.
He is the most powerful of us and rising pretty fast up, so I guess he has some truth, but seeing the stats I tend to disagree that like in most games defense is of low importance here.
