Yes

are deathstars worth going after as superlongterm goals? they look near invincible as defense tools to hold a system or to just hit anything you want

Right now you need to raid, then b-line for colonies and once you've got first colonies up and raiding and growing you can think about some real combat.
DeathStars are ages (read weeks) away anyways, because their cost both in prerequisites and actual production is tremendous.
And yes they're worth every bit of it I guess as they get rapidfire against practically everything and has very high endurance.
It's not like StarWars where a single X-wing kills a DS..

But there are fun things on way to it, like cruisers as a good countermeasure to LFighter chunks, battleships as the heavy 'hammers' of the fleet, bombers aand IPMs as anti-defense measures and even Destroyers, which are like small prototypes of DS..

10k M 10k C and 5k D en route, sorry I cant spare more at the moment, although I might be able to manage 50k M so you can do some armour research or something

Now, this source suggests I should be getting a rather big planet if it's 4th planet in it's system.
See what I've got..
I have a crappy 46 fields colony way out in the upper regions of Galaxy 5. I filled it to the brim with mines that are being brought over to it's neighbour which is going to be my second home. Once that one is fully functional I give up the small one. But for now it is serving it's purpose very well
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards
And notifying the next of kin
Once again...

thanks alot
ill have 40k M when yours come in,so unless the tech cost is sky high wont need 50k M atm.(edit;cant actually use it,although if your just giving it away i can handle somemore)

you mean to say you can transport the actuall mine levels so that your main base dosnt need to build them?

The problem with deathstars is it takes the enemy less to counter it with in terms of both research and resources. Building enough destroyers to give a 100% kill chance is cheaper than the DS itself.
Still, I'm aiming to get that technology anyway, even if I don't eventually build a DS or ten.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).
He probably means he is decontructing mines and other structures on the small planet and transporting the gained resources to the large for rebuilding of those structures.
