Lord Vetko bribed his way to Regency through the corrupt Imperial Senate, but Poly Siffan, his rival for the Regency in those elections was not in the least pleased. She decided that since he broke the rules first by rigging the elections, she had the right to acquire the office which should have been hers by any means available. She opted for a military solution.

But Lord Vetko wouldn't have survived this long if he had not had the sixth sense for these kinds of dangers. Naturally, he raised shields and Siffan suffered the loss of 2 torpedo battleships, and damage to the third. But the real damage was to her pride.

This comment does not make sense. If Y sent bigger ships, why did they both lose Battleships?

I'd presume that means that Y sent battleships *and larger ships* ... battleships are removed before dreadnoughts, after all, regardless of whom has them.

Yes, by Y still has more TBs?? Hence my comment.

My interpretation was damage spread evenly amongst the fleet (size=total ships tonage) then the smaller ships died first.

Ljube does not state the fleet strengths at attack time, but they had about the same tonage.
