Hmmm.. I seriously need to start a game with a Conference side... though I need to lead Newcastle to Prem Championship.

Though, amusingly, I pulled a Liverpool a season or so ago, though with much worse table position. I was supposed to qualify for Europe, but the team sucked (I forget why, it was a while ago), though I finished 3rd last season and was the CL. In the Prem, we finished like 10th, but ended up winning the freaking CL, final game over Real Madrid, where we got dominated, but won the game 1-0.

Of course we're doing much better now (though I haven't played for a while) .

the pre-season at crewe saw a lot of players leaving, including 3 of our 5 top earners, and a couple of players signing more reasonable contracts. with several new arrivals though, including two former bradford players, our wage bill was still over £35,000 a week.

the season started well with some very solid performances in the first month, lots of 1-0 and the occasional 2-0 win, we only conceded two goals in the first 8 games. however things have gone a bit downhill recently, we started letting in goals, and losing games, we went from the team who were second best for 89 minutes and nicked a goal to win, to being the team on top the whole game who concede a ****ty goal and lose.

the problem though is not so much with our defence but with our strikers, our four first team strikers have managed just 12 goals between them all season (it's not november), which simply isn't good enough, we're actually creating plenty of chances in almost every game as well, which makes it all the more annoying. in an attempt to solve this problem i bought a striker for £200,000 who scored 8 in 12 for rushden and diamonds, including an absolute screamer against us the week before he moved, so far he has 0 in five for us i'm going to bring someone in on loan to try and sort this out, if that doesn't work, then after christmas the 16/17 year old kids are going to play up front, because frankly they can't be any worse than what we've got at the moment.

I'm getting some success with loan deals, but having trouble getting a half-decent reserve (for a decent team, mind) striker to agree to a loan.
Looks like I'll have two yanks at the back, with Zak Whitbread from Liverpool, and Franklin Simek from Arsenal. Season-long loans.

What's the easiest place to start? I reckon it would be somewhere in the middle, perhaps a mid-stream team in Championship League or one division down. The pressure seems to be the lowest there.

Somewhere with potential i would think, like a big ground so you can afford highish wages for your league, but a lowish league, so you can steadily work your way up.

Barnsley get huge crowds for home games, but I don't know what the transfer kitty is like. Have a look at them.

bradford and sheffield wednesday are both massive clubs, sleeping giants in the true sense of the word. you won't have much money but if you want to build a team that can go on to dominate english football, you could do a lot worse.

well if you got the latest patches(if there are any?), then it might be ok after all, atleast worth putting some time into it. you'll have to tell us how it goes And sorry for seeming to drag your shame through the sand - it wasn't personal.

More disgust at the situation that caused the CM name to be taken from the creators of such a great game(and i'm sure the name change has cost FM in sales) - sometimes it obvious how much suits+money dominate our passion, to its detriment

W00t! I just beat 1st Division (Championship to those who only know English football from this game) Rotherham 1-0 in the first round of the league cup!

Rotherham finished rock-bottom of the Championship last season didnt they? (yes because i live there fortunately!)
