sometimes i find the word scary fits well in place of your amazing

I randomised the players names so i cant give you any team posts worth referencing. Still as a Conference team i can assure you my players are much worse than any duke might have in his team

Still after todays play i'm in first place looking forward to the other half of the season and i expect it will be a hard fight between three teams for the automatic promotion spot(i should make a play off though - if they have them in the conference?). I've also worked out i can watch more of my match by selecting the highlight mode in a match - extended seems about right for me

Nope, no playoffs - a very contentious issue at the moment. Do you not read the Non-League Paper?

      • damn it! thats not fair(but then taking chelsea's money isnt fair either). That article was four years old you realise? maybe its changed now?
Ok well i'm not sure i can win this season outright. I had a great goalie(welsh U21 from Cardiff) on loan for the first half of the season, which is why i've only conceded 10 goals(best in the league). Now i'm down to my second string(more like string vest and pie) goalie and my current good form is bound to take a hit. Still it gives me another season to prepare for the big time(league two) so maybe that will be a good thing. FM has taken over my FFE passion, god darn its little circular blob antics - i will make newport rule the premiership

        • Well I went transfer crazy tonight, and have got in a new coach. Admittedly, he came from Tamworth, but he's a lot better than my current bunch with the first team, and that's all I was looking for.

          • Getting a new(only if its better)coaching team in is one of my first priorities, especialy in the lower leagues. You not likely to improve your team players much at this level, but your back room staff can play thier part in helping your drive to the big time. I just hope i can keep the team i assembled, their contracts will runout in the next few years, and they may want increases in salary, in line with our(hopefully higher) league position by then. And i'm tight with the purse strings - i hate it when a player/staff wants over the current wages for your level, even when they express an interest in joining your club?

So i get back at them by never raiseing their salaries for the duration of the contract agreement(which is usualy long if they have potential) - seems fair

            • Yes!
I've just been linked with my first job. Admittedly it was Portsmouth, who are about six places below Hartlepool in the league, but it's always nice to have the press link you with a job.

              • Right, I need advice. Do I take Mandaric's offer, and the promise of £9m of his filthy lucre to blow on tranfers, or do I stay loyal to Hartlepool? I could easily take Portsmouth to the play-offs this season, whereas Hartlepool are already in third.
                What do I do?

                • Stay and win promotion with Hartlepool. Lead them to Champions League glory!
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

                  • How loyal can you feel to monkey hangers? take the money and run

                    • Well I have carefully studied Portsmouth's team, and I'm not sure.

I've also just bought one of the young stars I had on loan last season, so I'm not entirely packing my squad with other teams' players.

                      • Its probably ok while your doing well with the team, but when things get tough, do you really want to rely on the mercy of the locals - remember what they did to the poor monkey! At least at portsmouth they'd probably just throw chips at you or something

                        • Yeah, they elected the bugger as mayor!

The major trouble is that only 6000 or so of the locals turn up for home games, even though their team is doing really well. Hardly any travel for away games either.
If they want European glory, then they'll just have to give up the Mackems and the Smoggies, and support their local team! I remember playing Premier Manager on the Amiga, and you could build new stands onto the stadium (almost like Arsene Wenger ), but I doubt that the monkey hangers would even bother to come then, if I got them decent seats and slashed ticket prices for a month or so.
Also, Portsmouth have a loan of £12m, and have made a big loss for the last season and the last 3 months - speaking as an accountant (part-qualified only for the moment), then I may have to stay with Hartlepool. Plus, in RL, I hate Mandaric.

are you sure this is the same monkey were thinking of? The one i'm thinking of is the one the good people of Hartlepool hung during the war - after a court hearing that decided it(the monkey) was probably a spy from france thus the term 'monkey-hangers'

Still if they also elected a monkey as major - well then i think i'd be looking for a new club to run, what will they do next - sign a monkey for your new chairman?(could pay him peanuts i suppose )

sorry for the 'monkey hanger' jokes - i just love the story around it, its so british

Still' jokes aside, i think if i was in your position i'd stick with Hartlepool, after all you've taken them this far

                            • It wasn't a real monkey - it was the club mascot H'Angus the Monkey who was elected mayor. In Peter Mandelson's constituency, to make this even more excellent!

To be honest, I only chose Hartlepool because of the monkey hanging - but I'd have to quit my current game to change their nickname from "Pool", which is quite frankly rubbish.

Oh well, once I'm finished, I'm going to go crazy with editing the names of teams. :muhahahaha:

i think i'm growing fond of the people of Hartlepool - they must have a good sense of humour

I dont much like my teams 'Newport Co', but their nickname is quite cool, 'the Exiles' i think due to the fact that they are the lowest placed welsh side in the english league and the other welsh teams in the welsh premiership think they belong with them, and not the swansea's/cardiffs+wrexhams of the football world. atleast thats my working theory.

Sadly my computers monitor blew up the other day, and i dont fancy playing FM2005 on my oldgame computers 15" monitor; so no FM2005 for me for the next week or so untill i can trak down a new replacement(probably a 19" crt in place of the 17" crt i had).
