however, bunny hopping, as an exploit, IS specifically related to CS
other games you can run around, jump without penalty to speed and shoot without accuracy penalty in mid-air... yes, that is bunny hopping also I suppose...
but nevertheless, THERE IS NO BUNNYHOPPING IN BF2
you can't even fire your weapon while jumping in BF2 can you? or even if you can the accuracy is so horrible it is useless to try...
it is certainly a far cry from older versions of CS where you could jump and have perfect accuracy in midair with all the guns while doing the bunny hopping exploit...To us, it is the BEAST.

Bunny hopping in its original sense is more than just jumping and shooting.........it's just the term has been stolen and misapplied by people that don't really know what they are talking about (and think CS invented everything usually ).

well, you don't want to make games too realistic...
realism is not always fun
plus, jumping in BF2 is not a problem IMO... they did a good job of balancing it with a loss of stamina, etc...
if a guy starts jumping, just be sure to duck or go to prone, burst fire and be sure to not fire full auto so you can control your fire... that way the guy can't escape
trust me GT, the jumping you see in BF2 is nothing compared to the bunny hopping exploit that used to be in Counter-Strike...
and to be honest, there are other things about BF2 that annoy me more than players trying to jump in desperation when they are being shot at... I wish that the guns did more damage. That's my major complaint with realism. The Barrett .50 calibre sniper rifle for instance... that sucker should kill a guy in one shot if you hit a guy in the chest or head. Period. But it takes me 2 hits every time. I've shot guys POINT BLANK in the head and they did not die in 1 hit....
that's why I have been playing games like Day of Defeat lately... bullets should be more deadly...To us, it is the BEAST.

well, I think the only place you can get the new version "Day of Defeat Source" is from the website...
you have to download the program "Steam" and purchase Day of Defeat Source online... it is not available in stores yet... so you need a credit card... it is $19.95
I got Day of Defeat Source as part of the Half Life 2 Silver package...
They have something different now... check out the Steam website...
you can buy Day of Defeat Source seperately or get it with Half-Life 2...
but you can only get it online via Steam... it is not available in stores yet...
regular Day of Defeat is in stores... but this is the old version... not "Day of Defeat Source" which uses the Half-Life 2 engine. To us, it is the BEAST.

Basically bunny hopping originated as a consequence of the way physics were handled in the early MP FPS games. If you not in contact with a surface then you don't lose your acceleration, which can build up. It turned out (in Quake for instance) that control whilst in the air also impacts upon the physics........hence the role of strafing.
The ultimate bunny hops are in QuakeWorld and particualrly CPMA (a pro mod for Q3) where air control is maxed and speeds can reach truly outrageous levels if you are skilful enough.

well those are not tactical team based MP FPS's... those are just mindless deathmatch fragfests...
so who cares?
Hey, are any of you guys planning on getting the BF2: Special Forces expansion pack?
I'm getting the new patch right now, but I'm not sure if I want to buy the x-pack. I haven't played BF2 in a long time. I want to know if anyone here has played it. Is it any good?To us, it is the BEAST.

The Battlefield 1942 Expansion packs were worthless, in my opinion, the new maps were more annoying than they were fun.
Though there was one Italian map that pwn3d.
But I don't know if this new expansion pack is more geared towards Special Forces missions instead of adding maps on the original game.We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution. - Abraham Lincoln

And alot of the players that do bunny hop are from the Counterstrike crowd, so they still have the same mentality, going around looking for 10 knife kills a game, etc.
I think one jump after getting surprised is okay but the repeated jumping is retarded.:-p
