Haven't played BF2 for a month or so. Believe it or not, but I've gone back to CIV3 for a while. Once you pop, you can't stop!

But I'm currently downloading the new BF2 patch. It looks very promising in theory

Harder to play that foul play with the new patch, Sava!

I'm kinda disappointed that they only release one new map with the patch though. I would expect much more. But I assume they save that for the mandatory expansion.

Played a little in singleplayer (boo hiss) it didnt seem to have the scale that BF1942 had. although mahybe it was the draw distance, or the maps.

I picked up heli piloting quick enough courtesy of GTA! (only after I inverted the mouse)

Some players like that rule, some don't.

It just means you have to jump out of the vehicle while you are getting the flag.

I think this is more realistic, because in the case of the helicopter and the jeeps, those guys riding in the back can't really dominate a position to well, they are more sitting ducks.

I don't even think the driver should be able to earn a point for capturing a flag, only the guys with guns. So for example the transport helo could have 2 points because 2 of the guys have guns, and the APC should be the most dominant vehicle because everyone on board has a gun.

But yeah I know alot of people can't stand that new rule.

I've unlocked all the weapons except the sniper rifle. I never play sniper so no big deal. When I installed the new patch, I got 2 ranks up, apparently they reduced the requirements for getting a higher rank, to encourage more people to play.

I don't like this change. What is the point of this? They just want people to exit the vehicle to get credit for capturing flags?

This is stupid.

Someone will probably steal my spot in the vehicle.

For every step forward EA takes, it seems like they take two steps back.

I might start playing this game again. But it doesn't seem likely.

I'm really into Day of Defeat: Source.

It will be hard to bring myself back to BF2.

Of course it makes a lot of sense if only infantry can capture flags, but if you can still cap inside vehicles but only driver gets credit, it makes no sense at all. I assume they found out it encouraged free riders milking the game, just riding along.

I agree

I also think it wouldm be reasonable if a "gunner" were engagaing an enemy at a flag or saving the life of a commtrade at a flag for them to get some reward but certainly not for a free rider

I have taken up the habit of always jumping out of vehicles during flag capture. It has scored me at least ten points the last hour.

But this game is a little too fast for me after a bottle of wine and 2 mugs of Irish Coffe.
