  • I'm not guessing dig-dug though it looks amazingly like it... I'll say Commander Keen by Apogee... forerunner to the John's... Carmack, Romero's business.

Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

            • Commander Keen ... my god, a game I actually PLAYED, guessed at a late stage in this game? What's wrong with you people

I have to say my guess is a genre not a game - I'd say it's probably a game involving Taxis? "Fare" is rather specifically misspelled, is it not?

I'll say "Frogger" to have a game, though. That's not it, but it's fun

Ah yes - my spelling is pretty bad its true - a non deliberate red-herring on my part.

And No - no one has it yet.

                Clue4:

The theme of this game is specificaly refered to in the opening animation of the game Call To Power2.

All self respecting game fans should have a look at his essays here: http://www.erasmatazz.com/Library.html

One of the main men in the early days, just as games were becoming a commercial success. An odd ball in some ways, and became to be seen as a threat by some(well he was kicked out of the GDC he helped create!). Imho I think he has many usefull things to say about game design, still appropriate to todays gaming.

EasternFront was one of my favourite war games for quite a while, simple to play, tough to beat and yet full of depth

(scroll the page down to see the screenshots and description).

I got this game free with my Atari800XL and spent many, many hours trying to beat it, which i never did. It played like complicated chess.
It was quite a change from my black+white ZX81 with 1K
