    Safer worlds through superior firepower

    • Well, I'm assuming the city is the end.

      First the bad points:

The two huts that seem to have no purpose. I'm assuming you are going to put something there, if not, why have it there at all?

The cultist temple is a lot of wasted travel time. Get rid of the long empty hallways. You have a lot of unused space there so you should condense the whole thing to a smaller area.

      Why are the cultists there?

Also 6 hp skeletons shouldn't be worth the same xp as ~20 hp cultists.

The fights were okay, although the demon killed me when I killed it.

Which brings up respawning. Respawning to the surface is fine, but he should be able to use the portal to send you back to where you died.

More placeables overall. Books or letter to explain why the cultists are there.

I was confused by the sewers until the end, but it works out fine.

      Good points:

Quests are easy to understand and complete.

Unique items, especially the Cloak of the Nedaverse are awesome!

Monster descriptions are interesting and even amusing at times.

You obviously are capable of doing good work, and you have done a lot already, it just needs to be tightened up a bit.

I would have the maze of rooms that you can bypass in the cultist lair lead into the rest of it, get rid of the long, straight hallways.

There needs to be a Ming's Bastard sword.

And something mentioning me of course.

I liked it quite a lot except having to walk all the way back after I died.

Flesh out conversations and giving it a backstory, which I assume you know already, will push this along quite nicely.

Overall, I give it a thumbs up so far.

      ACK!

      • I also took an Munchkin build in to check something:

Either give the dragon a key to his chests that you can pick up after he's dead.

        OR

The five chests by him do not have to be usable.

I'd go with making them decoration only since there is no way to open them and you aren't supposed to be fighting dragons at first level anyway.

I'm also assuming that weapons racks will have weapons at a later date.

I HATE finding gems and gold in weapons racks. But maybe that is just me.

        ACK!

        • Tuberski's review has been noted. Changes shall be made.

          • I've downloaded it, but don't expect a review in the near future - I've only just got onto the second chapter of SoU.
But I do seem to have conned the game though.
I used the crystal to summon the myrmach, and although I've had the message at the bottom of the screen to tell me that it's been unsummoned, it's still with me, and has even travelled to the next area. I admit that I need a bit of a hand in fights, but if I can keep him alive that would just be disgraceful.

I've also just copied the Exalted Sorceress munchkin to use when I get round to playing HotU. So next year then.

              • I should get a chance to play this tomrrow. I have to go to the market today

                Comment

                • actually I did get an hour to play. So I fired it up.

I'm playing a human druid. I use a Panther is my animal companion.

I died on the first group of goblins I faced . It was obvious melee wasn't going to work with this druid. I then resorted to using darts. I wanted to use weapons I have never used before so I use spears and darts. I like darts also because I can carry a torch with them. It's hard to see down there.

the next time I faced these goblins I ran low in hitpoints and ran out of the cave, interestingly the quest giver (and possibly the merchant) started attacking the goblins.

But after that the goblins weren't much of a threat. My panther made short work of them.

Just for kicks I tried attacking the dragon at level 1. That didn't end well.

I'm not critic, so I don't know how helpful my advice will be.

I'm not asking for much, but maybe a little backstory why I'm escorting this guy through the caves might be useful.

Anyways that's it for today. I had to go back to the merchant to get more darts. I have finished searching through the first set of long passageways that contain fire beetles.

And I've decided I'm going to create a module. . Since everyone else is doing it. Mine will be story heavy, but will contain some action. It's going to start off by having your parents be killed (yes that does restrict some roleplay). But really I don't like people roleplaying level 1 characters as if they've been adventuring for years. You are level 1, you are still a kid- an apprentice. This will involve finding out who killed your parents and bringing them to justice (I may include more than 1 way to do this). And as that happens, the character will uncover a deeper mystery.

I've always wanted to have some action on a boat. I've played a couple of scenarios where you are on a boat, and I'm anxious to figure out how much I can do. I've always wanted to do a mutiny sequence. And I'm going to try to incorporate that into my scenario somehow.

The biggest problem is I have no idea how to use the toolset. so I'll need to do a crash course.

                  • Just messing around with the toolset is a lot of fun. You'll learn as you go along, there's a ton of interesting things you can make and do. to such a good editing tool.

                    • Inspired by Space, I've also decided to put a bit (the hopefully playable bit) of the mod I'm working on available for you guys to test. However, it's a bit to big to attach here, so if you want to give it a whirl, send me a pm with your email.

                          • Playing as a NE orc barb, I got an early xp boost by killing everything in sight well, I killed the res spawn guy anyway for a nearly 300 xp right of the bat. I killed the kobold thugs as well but the dragon semed to take exception to that I would not go friendly to me even though I let him kill me. I was lvl 2 before the gobbo boss.

more low lvl spellcasters! Perhaps stick a bard in with those groups of goblins, or more priests in with the cultists. it just spices it up a bit when I am cleaving my way through them

The demon was the only thing that got even close to kiling me (other than the dragon!) luckily I passed my save.

Were there secret rooms in the cultists bit?

I dont know what to do now the dragon is hostile and I have finished the dungeon.

Overall, if your objective was to create a series of rooms filled with groups of monsters, then you have suceeded I like playing action based NWN but you do need something to spice up the encounters a bit, all those beetles just got crushed underfoot.

                              • Jamski/cyclotron, how do I make it so when a player uses the portal they return to where they last died? There's so much to scripting and I dont have to motivation to learn it right now, I want to finish my first module before moving on to more complicated things.
