Well I lost my myrmach follower, and this will be no surprise to those who have played SoU before. I then paid out 15k to rescue my henchman from a similar fate (trying not to spoil it - but, what would happen if you were protected against that effect somhow? Would the game just break?) .

Unfortunately I only played a little NWN this weekend because I also found time to sign my future away: on Saturday I bought Morrowind and Civ III for £10 each, and got SMAC free with them.
I spent all Saturday playing SMAC, and then had a quick go on Civ III on Sunday morning, but I'm not opening Morrowind until I've finished SoU, and probably HotU too.

I don't think it matters, since you're in a cutscene during the effect anyway. And had you explored the ruins more carefully, you'd have found an item to help your henchman.

Probably not. The actual... ahem, attack, doesn't work like that; what happens in the game is a scripting thing. It just scripts an effect to be produced on your character, and that would bypass any immunities, etc. you might have.

I'll do you one better. By the time I came to that part of the story, I already had an item that accomplished that, having picked it up by accident along the way.

I just discovered that Winrar does a better job of compressing my mod, such that it can now pass the forum's oppressive file size limits.

If you're interested in playing, a few things to note:

-you will need the CEP to play.

-it's a rogue-only mod. I don't know how other classes will fair, but it's simply not designed for them. You will have an opportunity to choose a subclass, though.

-it's far from finished. The part you can play here is aout 1/7 of the whole thing. Currently, I'm working on the events immediately after this part, which is mostly dialog. Since I've been working on this on and off for about a year, you should get a pretty good idea about my pace. It should be finished by 3000.

-given that, a few features have yet to be implemented but you'll see them as you play: -journal, experience stones, in-game manual, treasure system (sorry, it's complicated and I haven't designed the treasure yet), and henchman command dialog (Trent will use deekin's dialog, but it works). There are others, but they don't apply to this part, and I'm too lazy to delete all the scripts and blueprints to make the file smaller.

-an important feature that is implemented, if not perfected is the sublcasses. The most important thing to note is that some skills require training (at least one point added during creation or lvl up) in order to recieve bonuses. Fighter subclasses don't need to worry. Mage subclasses should train in use magical device, concentration, and spell whatever. The enhanced rogue subclass may want to take advantage of pickpocketing (traps to set haven't been added to the game yet), it could be useful in at least one part.

-the farthest you can travel is to the sewers. Beyond that requires a hakpack. However, I'm sure that you will find the quest there challenging enough for a lvl 2 rogue (I usually play it solo as henchmen become optional at this point).

I'd like to know your general impressions. These areas are pretty much finished except for what is mentioned above, let me know any bugs you find, anything you like or don't like, and anything that you feel could be done differently or better. Thanks.

And cyclo, when you say you picked up the item by accident, do you mean that it was an accident with the game editing tool that you were only experimenting with (), or that they were really dumb enough to include such an item in the list of random treasures from chests?

I started playing SOU again (wanted to play HOtU first but apparently its the sequal to SOU)

Im playing as a Paladin and having a hell of a time remaining LG. Most of the times I play NWN I start off as a TN Fighter and end up CE.

I just got some w00tly armor that will make it far easier to remain on the holy path though.

Need a little help though;

Should I double class as a Champion of Torm at level 10? (will I still remain a "holy man" if I do? and can I still use my w00tly class-restricted armor?)

What can I do to raise my Lawfulness? It's easy enough keeping the good up, you just dish out the dough when you get a chance, but Ive yet to get and L++. Not even the incident with the Kobolds in the kitchen or with Piper got my any.

Having played HOTU before SOU, I see no clear continuum of story between them. HOTU is definitely not SOU's sequel.
