I did a double take too, but between your higher speed and us both hitting the oil slick and the wall, you got ahead of me, not sure this is a bad thing for me though

      • Turn 25: "Damn Poly is slow today!"

Everybody decided to go into the wall today with the exception of Kassi.

Sparrow was able to cut the corner one space earlier and went into the wall 1 space ahead of Ramsey, thus regaining the lead.

Jonny got the left toss off the oil and went into the top wall.

At first I thought that Rah got lucky and got the right toss, but that combined with his next move (R) sent him directly into the wall next to the oil, resulting the a -3 penalty.

Kassi looks to have found the optimal path to avoid the oil (and perhaps the wall).

        • How could I slid backwards into the wall?
At least i could be headed SE if that's the direction I hit the wall.

But I'm rather worried about the only unknown factor: the other racers.

                      • Rah, you did not go backwards, although i can see how that would be inferred by the way the track is displayed in the "code" tags. If you cut and paste it into textpad, you will see that the wall is SE of the oil. You were headed NE, got a right deflection from the oil, and moved R off the oil in the same moment. that gave you a 90 degree turn right into the wall.

After anyone hits a wall, they turn 45 degrees in the direction of the wall/ track. You headed SE into the wall, so you were turned E after the impact.

Had you had a M in place of the first R you would have made the corner. In fact, as you can see, it would not be wise to try to turn off of an oil slick.

                          • Then technically I should have been pointed south, but I don't think that would be helpful
I guess when you plan a move and things change, it should be taken into consideration (like if you now know you're heading in the wrong direction, there is no way you would turn to make it worse, it's not realistic). Which is why I never put sandbags right before jumps so I wouldn't have to deal with the person that had a break at the end of their turn, but hit a sand bag and is moving slower and doesn't need to break and it causes them to miss the jump on the next turn, or not putting them right in front of turns so people turn short.). Its a complicated process to handle and sometimes judgement call are required when they happen.

I guess I'm just getting frustrated because everyone seems to hit the same hazard, and I'm the one that seem to get the most penalized.

                            • Well no, not south, you headed SE into the wall and the track was still headed NE at that point (before the turn), hence the wall pushed you back to E...like you said, S did not make sense.
