  • In other words, your bad rep with them is reset. Very useful when you have earned the title of Duke with the smaller three and are looking for a way to get started with the Spaniards.

    • You can also get a mission to send Paolo to a nearby town who hates you (read: they attack you when you come near), if he gets there you may enter the nation the town belongs to without being shot down.
Adagio is refering to using a Jesuit Priest to help you enter a hostile town/port to get an amnesty. But the priest will only help you as long as there are no friendly towns/ports nearby. Note: The Hostile town/port has to be closer to the Jesuit settlement than any friendly town/port in order for the priest to offer to help.

      • I thought it was enough to just help the priest get to the port, and after that your slate would be wiped clean? At least IIRC that's what happened to me.

Btw, in my latest game I've killed all of the other Top 10 pirates and found six treasure chests. Unfortunately, I couldn't get close enough to Blackbeard's ship to fire grape shots, and I ended up sinking him and his loot. That was at least 20k pieces of gold. Henry Morgan netted me 48k in plunder and 10000 in treasure, though, so I'm not too depressed.

        • What's the longest time you have been at sea? Right now I've been at sea for 38 months and I've got 232,000 gold

You've got to be kidding! Man, why would you ever sink a ship! I have played through two games now, and I have only sunk one ship in them, and that was accidentally. It was a nice Royal Sloop sent out to get me, and I accidentally gave it one broadside too many.

When fighting the famous pirates, I try to not even fire a single shot, so I don't damage their ship too much. I just set a straight collision course, and jump onto the enemy ship with the cutlass aready to spill some blood.

Any way, sinking ships is silly. Instead, take them and sell them to the shipwright in the nearest town.

I don't think I've been at sea for over a couple years. I like to divide plunder often. The largest plunder I got in a single voyage was a little over 100k, for that reason, and I damn near lost it all when my fleet was all damaged (I had to frigates and a brigantine, and they were all at about 60% hull damage and like 75% sail damage - and not even the sailmaker and whatever is the name of the dude who fixes hulls could do anything about it), and on approaches to me home port, all of a sudden, out of nowhere came three spanish pirate hunters! I was running out of men, too, and as I was dueling the last captain, sure enough, I hit one person remaining, and only by some twist of luck avoided being hit by him and got back to port in one piece.

              • I just ended this travel after 45 months on sea (3 years and 9 months ) and 240k gold

Most of the gold I have is from Montabans hideout and the 1st and 2nd most notorious pirates (of course I didn't sink them ), who had their place nearby
And with that much gold I could easily find that Raymando guy with the family info, without worrying about my crew getting mad at me. So now I have all family members and one piece of an Inca map

                  • I've been at sea for about 20 months. I intend to divide the current plunder of about 100 000 coins, take a rest, and then head out to the hideout with refreshed strength. I will, after all, have to assemble a pretty large force, which means capturing a lot of ships and touring the Spanish Main to recruit them lubbers.

I'm wondering is it possible to attack, loot, and kill everybody in a Jesuit mission?

Sure there are downsides to this but it's sometimes a lot of fun to play an uber-evil pirate

Ah any chance any ninjas in the game so I can give them some old-fashioned pirate buttwhooping?
                      Who is Barinthus?

Had to look twice myself as I took that ship! I wasn't the one who named it that way

They are all immune to attack.

In my last game, before I abandoned it, I divided plunder of little over 307K after 65 months. The reason I abandoned the game, see my Thread (Wanted: Experienced Treasure Hunters). If you can't find the first treasure, you won't get any new pieces until the 1st one is found.

                          • Planing The Million Gold Cruise:

As stated in my previous post, I was well on my way to accomplishing that task (over 300k). I still have the save game if I can find that damned Inca City, as stated in my other Thread).

                            Setting the Foundation:

                            1) Defeat Montalban=100K
                            2) 4 Lost Cities=200K
                            3) 9 Famed Treasures=54K to 90K
                            4) 9 Famed Pirates= Depends on their ranking when defeated but the minimum is around 100K.
                            5) Sack as many towns as possible (Stay away from Poor ones--Wealthy or Prosperous only). Use Indians before you attack and escort new gov to pump up economy.
                            6) The Spanish Treasure Fleet= ??? (Random amounts, but you need to take them).
                            7) Sink as many ships as possible. Best targets: Other Treasure Ships, Military Payroll ships, Immigrants, & escorted ships (they're escorted for a reason).
                            8) Sell ships at top dollar (get as many upgrades as possible & makes sure you're a Duke of at least one Nation (2 preferably--More than 2, )
                            9) Plunder (Top dollar)--Spice & Luxuries are prefered, followed by Sugar and then Goods.
                            10) Wanted Criminals--Rewards range from 1K to 5K (I've never seen anyone worth over 5K)
                            11) Montalban (4 times before you sack his hideout), Raymondo (up to 16 times), & Mendoza (depends on the number of towns in any given Era).

                            Note: 8 & 9 go hand-in-hand.
