I think we can all agree these people are decidedly odd too, so there's no conflict with that said above.
The understatement of the month..............
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

actually if it wasnt for them wearing these insanely hot woolen uniforms in summer, Id consider doing something like that.
POTM a few years ago attended a civil war day camp for a week (at our local civil war site/museum). They wore kepis/foraging camps, but no woolen uniforms. She learned the basics of mid-19th c infantry drill, as well as a lot of stuff about civil war life. She forgot her lunch one day, and got to share hardtack with her counselor/sergeant.

We're definitely above those Murder Mystery geeks.
Oh, and whoever it was who made the prismatic d3 I can't find anymore. The rectangular faces and triangular ends were numbered on the bottom edge, kinda like the way the triangular sides of the d4 are numbered on the bottom.
But you can get cubic dice numbered 1,1,2,2,3,3 if you search around.
I spent a few weekends each year live roleplaying across the countryside in chainmail or wizard robes when I was in my 20's. It may be considered geeky but its a damn sight healthier than sitting at my PC playing MMOs to get my dose of escapism. Unfortunately with our dispersal to places all over the world cyberspace is pretty much the only regular meeting place for my old LARP group these days.
To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

I once did model UN. My high school signed up at the last minute, and we should have been Mauritania or Nauru or something, but the tteam playing USA canceled at the last minute, and we got assigned to it - in somewhat over our heads - kinda not so great when the number one power is being played by folks who havent really prepared (hush now, keep the politics to OT) It was at a hotel in mid manhattan, and we got a speech from Andy Young, who was then the actual UN ambassador from the USA, which was cool.

I'm making my own chainmail... Where does that put me?
very useful in an ISOT scenario.

Oh, and at sleep away camp once we did a mock Knesset. I led the Independent Liberals (or whatever) and gave an impassioned speech on the seperation of Synagogue and state. Unfortunately the Likud, Labor and National Religious formed a (most unlikely) coalition, and left us isolated with the Mapam-socialists.
