    Could this be one of the biggest hits in the Xbox's history?
    doubtful, i is a great game, but compared to what is coming out now, it doesn't go nearly enough in depth, and it isn't nearly long enough to warrant it as even one of the top 20 xbox games.
    Kotor had a way better story, and Morrowind was WAY more detail orinted than this. It reminds me of both games at times, but fails to caputure the magic of either of the two.
    I like how htey have the three different abilities that you can level up on, but skill seesm almsot pointless w/ the exception of guile! I guess if your seeking a challenge, you could try to be bow intensive...

      What other way is there to play civ and smac (aside from sucking) than powergaming?

      Like I said before, not everyone wants to powergame. Just because you do it doesn't mean every has to or should. I don't 'powergame' when I play Civ or SMAC. I'm a builder. I go for the space shuttle / transcendance victory and AFAIK have never won by conquering the world. That just doesn't do it for me.

      And I find that more fun than going around conquering, but I ain't going to say "what other way is there to play".

        Conquering does not equal powergaming. Haven't you ever played anything competitive?

          I usually don't play games competitively, either. Nor did I play Fable nearly as "hardcore" as you did.

            There is no way to play civ3 except to power game. That's why it sucks. Civ2 and SMAC are another story, however...

              Try it at "easy" then. The Ai doesn't REX at that level.

                But powergaming does equal conquering.

                  You don't have to powergame until you hit Emperor or Deity.

                    That makes no sense.

                    "equals" is associative.

                      Bad choice of words, if you choose to be picky. It should be implies.

                      powergaming => conquering

                      but

                      conquering =/=> powergaming

                      Therefore, (powergaming <=> conquering) does not hold.

                        I'm confused now

                        What I meant was I can easily powergame and play a pure builder strat at the same time.

                        And as far as difficulty levels go, I almost always play every game on the hardest setting.

                          Yep, there you go. And you can't powergame and be a pure bulder... at least not in Civ3. Expansion leads to conflict and conflict, invariably to conquest. You can't just stay in a corner of the map and hang out.

                          The best part of a game to me is the journey, not winning the game the fastest or with the best score. For example in Civ/SMAC, I didn't care if I won or not, just if it was a good, fun game.

                            actually i did powergame civ 3 as a builder quite a bit. usually it involves insane ics at the beginning so you end up with so many resources and territory that you can play defensively as many people won't attack you. usually my close ai neighbors only managed to build 3-5 cities while i had 20+. i did't play the difficulty levels above monarch(is this the middle one?) much though. powergaming is a style of play not necessarily aggressive play.

                              On the subject of Powergaming, i think that it could be seen as a fault of a games design if its possible to basicaly cheat your way to victory. But lets face how many games can you think of where you can't powergame?!
                              Still if thats how a player likes to play then maybe its not a real issue - its all about enertainment at the end of the day

                              Morrowind is a good example. For me to really enjoy that game(and i do) i have to anti-power play.
                              On KOTOR i was at 80 game hours and about 85% to completion, where other people completed it in around 60hrs or under.
                              It looks like if i want to get what i want out of Fable, i'll have to adopt the same approach. Gaming for me has become less about the winning than the taking part - but maybe thats what happens after you've been gaming for over 20years?

                                In a good game like SMAC you can though. Civ3 is a worthless piece of **** of a game where there is only one good strategy.
