Um... realizing that when they said you get a dowry of ZERO, should have alerted you to whether it really applies in the situation.

Yep, and all I said in my original post was that I was dissappointed that it didn't.

      Spoiler:
In other news, did you guys get Skorm's Bow? IMO it's even better that that sword you get at the end if you use the multishot

Well, I caved in and got the game. I like it a lot so far. I'm playing a good wizard. I got him obese to open a demon door. But he doesn't look anything near Fat Albert. But now I got to loose weight...

The targeting system is messed up. I end up targeting allies way to often, and sometimes it just targets nothing, even though a guy is lit up red.

Back to targeting... the game also is to stupid to realize that I didn't want to give that beer to someone else, I wanted it for me.
Yes, it can be irritating. You also use the right trigger for spells AND to attract experience orbs. Its a hassle for wizards like me.

Well I'm thin again. The game is pretty easy so far. However, if you boast a lot before a quest, it can get tough. A little piece of advice: when you want to fish, look out for whirlpools...

I meant ripples. Anyway, I posted that before visiting Fisher's creek.

Some boasts are really hard, especially if you take multiple boasts. In a side quest, you have to kill monsters at Orchard farm. You could: (a) kill them naked, without protection; (b) kill them and come back without a scratch; (c) kill 10 more than Whisper. If you take all three boasts, the quests becomes really hard.

Get skorm's bow, use multishot (preferably max), and use the shield skill. All boasts become easy.

Once I got my character going it was possible to kill every enemy except the Rock Golem in 1 hit (excluding bosses) and the Rock Golem in 2.

The shield spell doesn't work with "do it unprotected" boasts. Otoh, the freeze time spell is very useful. Combined with the "multiple melee attacks" spell, its quite deadly.

You do realize that not everyone wants to powergame?

                    I'm playing as a good character. I wouldn't use Skorm's bow.

Fable is definitely a quality game, but some things are definitely lacking. I guess I just wasn't expecting such a hack and slash for an rpg, I am fresh off of KOTOR, and still up to my buttocks in Morrowind, and was expecting something slightly similar. The gameplay is entirely different, but still quality.

Stay tuned kids, what will bipolarbear say next about the new upa and comer?

I'm trying to find the seeress in the bandit camp without a scratch AND without killing a single bandit. Skorm's bow would be useless. No bipolar, it's not merely hack and slash.

                          It's a fun ass game.

I'm taking some time now to do weird things, look in all the nooks and crannies. It's definitely worth it so far.

Well my lady is going to get it for me as a late birthday pressie, i think its not out in the u.k for another 2 weeks or so?
I didnt follow the build up of the game that closely, so my expectations are not sky high, but there have been enough positive comments here to persuade me that it's a worthy addition to my xbox collection.
Morrowind it isn't, but it does sound interesting.
Keep up the commentary guys - its all good stuff

                              Fable Sells Big
                              How big? Really big.

September 23, 2004 - Microsoft Game Studios has reason to be proud: Today it announced that Fable, the beautiful and expansive Xbox-only RPG developed under the care of Peter Molyneux, has already broken records in its first week of sales.

Fable sold more than 375,000 units during its initial week of release (which translates into about $18.7 million gross). To offer some perspective, in one week that's about half the number of units Knights of the Old Republic sold in its first six months.

As for record breaking, Fable was had the biggest first-week sales at EB Games of any Xbox title, ever. At Game Rush, it broke first-week records for any game. And, in a delicious statistic, Fable grossed more in its first week than the film Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Take that, Jude Law!

Could this be one of the biggest hits in the Xbox's history? That remains to be seen, especially with heavy contenders like Halo 2 still to emerge. But without a doubt, Big Blue Box's unique RPG is doing very well. Very well, indeed.

I guess, though it doesn't make much sense considering the site we post on is dedicated to strategy games. What other way is there to play civ and smac (aside from sucking) than powergaming? I play every game that way. It's more fun.
