  • Fable: It's Out!

Got it yesterday! I really like it so far. The presentation is top notch. The graphics are great (I especially like that birds fly away when you run up behind them). I've just reached adulthood and will go on my first real quest the next time I play. At the guild house you can choose your quest and you'd transported right to that city. It seems that every quest is within a city, but there is a LOT of countryside around each of the cities which looks like prime area for exploring (I'd imagine those that finished in 15 hours didn't go wandering too much).

Unfortunetly it seems all the girls in the guild don't look to favorably on a guy wearing a villager outfit... even when he wants to flirt with them. Ah well, maybe later on .

Any complaints? Not really up to now. It's been easy (which I've heard that the game is), but the story, so far, seems somewhat intriguing, if cookie cutter. It seems most of the major quests will be to kill something. I'm sure you'll get minor quests in the town (as I've gotten in the guild and in the first city). I like the stories in the books, but I wish they were more detailed, like the books in Morrowind.

It's very Zelda-like (that reviewer was on the ball) in terms of feel, but it has experience as well. I think the back of the box describes it as a 'Role Playing Action Adventure', which sounds about right.

So far, I'm really enjoying it!

An X-box game by Peter Molyneaux.

The Molyneaux part really scares me, but from all reports it looks pretty good.

Anywhoo keeps us updated as the game progresses.

The game I'm really looking forward to Is A Bard's Tale, it's supposedly extremely funny from the previews.

Not all of have tons of money to continually upgrade our computers. The X-Box is one of the best things I've gotten, especially considering the value.

        Back to Fable!!

I'm still in the early stages of the game. I'm having trouble deciding if I want to be good, or evil... I started off wanting to be good, but it's so easy to be evil. It's so tempting to walk into people's houses that they leave unlocked and restock, rather than paying. But then they get mad at you and won't sell things to you...so then you need to murder them all. So right now I'm slightly evil, since I did do good things like stop some bullying and saved a bunch of people from giant wasps (though I did kill two of them because I 'flirted' with them and they had negative reactions...)

This game is very, very promising so far. One thing I'm trying to watch is what I eat. I want an attractive player. Right now he's about 18 years old, with brightass blue eyes. I stole some pass thing to get a haircut once I find a barbershop too, we'll see what I can do (that's so gay). But I'm honestly avoiding fatty foods to eat (food replenishes health), because I don't want a fatass player. You see, depending on your actions, and what you eat, your character looks much, much different. Evil people look dark and have evil-looking faces overtime, perhaps tatoos and whatnot...mages tend to go bald and grey, looking mage-ish. I'm likely going for a melee-character, so I'm slowly bulking up. I'm only ever-so-slightly evil right now, so I've got a slight border on my eyes that makes me look somewhat evil...And some villagers say "Oh no, not him again!" when I come into town.

And the Xbox is $149 every 4-5 years, then.

Yep, Xbox is a hell of a lot cheaper then PC. I spent $180 on my video card alone this year, I used to spend only $100 per card but I had money then so I upped my allowance.

I will still perfer PC tho until Mods are playable on the Xbox. Doesn't mean I don't play the Xbox I do mainly for sports and action titles. Hmm which reminds me I need a good fighting game.

Fable definitely sounds promising. I need to finish a few other games first though.

All the reviews I read so far claim that Fable is very short, 15-20 hours short... So I'll rent it. (Something PC owners can't do!) I dont know if I'll like it. I'm pretty sure it's a good game. But I need my RPG fix, and I'm not sure Fable will do the trick. I guess I'll have to wait for KOTOR 2.

That's only if you do the main quests. I was having some fun wandering around the countryside. This old coot that I saved from wasps gave me a fishing rod and taught me how to fish, I was doing the fishing mini-game and catching a nice quantity of fish which I could use later to replenish my health.

And I was doing some minor quests, like leading traders to where they wanted to go, etc, etc. If you wander around the countryside, I can easily see this game going 50 hours. There seems to be much more to do than just the stated guild quests. Though if you dally, the 'voice' will say there is an important quest, kind of annoying, if you ask me.

once I find a barbershop too, we'll see what I can do

                          There is one in Browerstown.

                          --

Anyway, the game is the BLAST! I'm having a good deal of fun. I've gotten 4 trophies so far and have been building up my renown showing it to people in Browerstown. I've also gotten some new haircuts (and beard and mustaches) and I got women with the hearts above their head (meaning they want some of my character ). Though I diluted some of my attractiveness rating by buying leather armor, which protects me better, but also makes me less attractive.

So far, I've been good. I really liked that in one main quest, you could choose to either protect the farm from bandits or join the bandits and attack it. That's always fun .

I'm just going around the world. Maybe I'll fish a little more and then listen to the Guildmaster and take the escorting traders main quest (bah!). At the very least, it'll get me more renown... and cash. Though I do like the fact that the more renown I get the villagers refer to me as 'Wasp Killer' (though some still do call me 'Chicken Chaser' ) and give me lower prices because of it.

Right now I'm mostly melee, but I want to involve more magic into the fold. I like unleashing lightening on those wasps. The control scheme is a bit wierd with the 'L' button (mainly because this is the first game I've played where I've had to target people), but I'm getting used to it.

I also love the fact that if you wait too long to take a non-essential quest, it disappears. So they are open forever... and some quests take a hero of much renown (so I have to work on that).

Oh, and that Whisper is a *****!

But I need my RPG fix, and I'm not sure Fable will do the trick. I guess I'll have to wait for KOTOR 2.

True, Fable is more of a Role playing action-adventure. For a true RPG experience, I'd recommend 'Jade Empire' (Bioware game) as well as KOTOR 2.

Jade empire will not be here anytime soon. However, KOTOR 2 will be available for Christmas. What will it be? KOTOR 2 or HALO 2? Mmmm... Vampire: the masquerade also looks very promising and it will be here soon, but my damn compusaurus can't handle it.
