yeah, a slightly weird selection of platforms - like why the hell do an amiga version but only one british computer platform with the zx spectrum? most games in the amiga era that came out on one uk platform usually came out on Amstrad as well........but good to see the atari 800 left out in the cold again ( ) - it used to happen a lot.

Uridium? - not a great guess i'm afraid, but the C64 was widely said to have the best version.

hmm had to be around 86-87. Trying to think of a game that was on NES, Atari 2600 and C64 and was really big and biggest for the Commodore.

Alter-Ego, but I think that was only on computers anyway thats my guess.

Clue #2: Oh, and Arcade. It was originally a japanese coin-op.

intellivision!! - that is freaking me out with this? It cant be those classics like centipede/pacman/pitfall etc because they also came out on the Atari 400/800's......so that leaves?

we're all going to know of it when its finaly guessed though.

he he - nice one Buck

has to be a damn simple game if it came out on the atari2600 as well.

oh what the heck Beach Head? nope thats not it.

japanese coin op and atari2600 and intellivision!!

This shouldn't be this hard! - a japanese coin op and a big hit on the C64(plus multi-platform releases from clunky '4bits' ( ) to super '16bits'.

                Space Harrier?

Doesn't that apply to most video games?

I'm too drunk right now to come up with a good clue, will post one in the morning instead.

Clue #4: Right. Now for some of the reasons the C64 version was so good.

As you can tell by the spread of machines the game is really quite simple, and although it was obviously cut down graphics-wise from the arcade machine (and changed in orientation from vertical to horizontal) I believe it was perfect in level for eight-bits. The C64 version had smooth, well-working gameplay, decent graphics, and not least excellent new music by SID supremo Rob Hubbard.

Of course, now that I look around the net I see loads of people who don't like the c64 version. *shrug*

Rob Hubbard? Apart from the vertical-horizontal thingy i would say Commando but instead I have go with Crazy Comets. That was also based on a arcade machine.

You might have to reconsider that guess.
