Ireland's downward spiral is interrupted by the sheer volume of people moving, who all need services and thus jobs are created. Unfortunately, service is poor because everyone's frigging drunk. In addition, the world community is seething at Ireland for taking well over 50% of the world's tourism, leaving little for other nations, which cannot come to the table with such a competitive package as subsidized booze.

The United States government assigns a legion of scientists to study the flu strain. Deaths in China continue to surge, and limited martial law has been declared in Beijing.

In Iraq, the rollout of limited competition goes favorably for American companies except in sales to fellow middle-eastern nations, so the program is expanded: Iraqi oil companies will now be first providers of oil to Iraqis. President Edwards recieves hell from Congress for the plan, but pledges that it is the "right thing to do."

In secret, the WHO informs the UN Security Council that "overpowering force" is an acceptable remedy for "flu strain" remedy, as it is an epidemic spreading at inconcievable proportions, and appeals that additional research is necessary to prevent whole populations from being eliminated.

The United States informs Syria it will take back its money if Syria continues to use radioactive materials for any purposes.

Last week's secret G8 WHO report was leaked by an unidentified source last week. The report identifies fatalities of the strain at about six times the officially reported rate, but the parts mentioning the strain's origin have been removed. In a possibly related incident, Norwegian scientist Almosta Sweed was found dead in his apartment. Sweed had been studying the flu strain, and the death has been ruled a suicide.

Great droves of international businesses flee Russia. Subsidies for remaining corporations barely make up the economic gap, except for the crippling inflation.

I saw no news of this! Also the electors could have voted for an Edwards/Kerry ticket if they wanted to, but thats really rare for even 1 elector to do that.
