rah: Then why are you voting for somebody who was taking the time to try and decipher the clues? Just goes to show the reward you get for doing any work, I suppose. I don't consider it in-flavor to help after being executed, so enjoy figuring out the mafia on your own.

Hercules: Now your vote I accept. That's a crazy theory that I'd come up with! Shame it's not actually correct, but whatever.

Looks like ljcvetko can advance, 7 votes is plenty. Just goes to show the oppressiveness of the system to wipe out the true revolutionaries while letting the nobles and rich run wild.
    All syllogisms have three parts.
Therefore this is not a syllogism.

Learn to decipher the clues better and this wouldn't happen.

Naw, when I'm busy at work, I usually just pile.
Staying in the game longer sometimes takes priority over actually catching the mafia sometimes. You can't win if you're not in the game, and piling can guarentee that you survive another round. Of course, after having said that, I'll probably be the next mafia victim.

              Nothing personal.

Well, one thought before being executed. If

                      rhomboid wood frame
wood was exposed to intense heat for a short period of time

these relate to the poisoning Mafia... well, a wood frame (with a covering) that was exposed to intense heat... doesn't that sound like that funny kite-in-the-sky thing that Mr. Franklin made? That he claims will attract lightning? Plus, as a scientist, Mr. Franklin would certainly know about poisons...

Only thing is, the victim was killed by poisoning last round IIRC, not electrocution. Still, a thought.

Chapter 8 – A farewell to short Corsican

In the committee of Public Safety a disputable coalition of rival factions appeared to be forming.
“Georges-Jacques, the extremism of Hébert and Hébertists is simply unacceptable”, Robespierre tried to win Danton’s support.
“I agree Maximilien. He must not be allowed to continue to prosecute whomever he chooses.”
“But we can’t do anything against him”, protested Desmoulins. “He is one of the first revolutionaries, devoted to the Jacobin cause. If we remove him, the revolution will lose the support of the Hébertists and will consequently fail. And we are so near to a complete success of our revolution.”
“If we allow Hébert to live, he can destroy the revolution with his extreme left views. Remember citizens, this is the Reign of Terror in service of the Virtue”, said Robespierre.
“Well OK Maxim. I’ll vote for Hébert’s execution. And so will Camille”, concluded Danton.

Later at Place de la Révolution, where the guillotine was ready, waiting for fiery Hébert.
“You accused me of being a monarchist. And I have committed my life to fight against tyranny. I die innocent, killed by a madman who wants to rule France alone.”
“You’ve said enough citizen Hébert, traitor of our revolution. It’s time to die.”
And having said these words, Robespierre pulled the handle and Snowfire lost his head.

The scene was observed by Dr. Guillotin and General Bonaparte.
“General Bonaparte, I have examined Mr. Jefferson’s body and I am certain now the killer did the flogging using some kind of stick. The bite marks appeared to be quite deliberate and they were consistent with bites of several species of polecats. It is a monstrous work of a deranged sadistic individual who was so extreme in his obsession that he would go to such lengths to arrange the killings in the way he did.”
“I don’t share your views Dr. Guillotin. I don’t see him as a very extreme person. In fact he might seem quite moderate. Otherwise we would have got him by now. But thanks for your findings anyway.”

                        ********

The night was very cold. It was the beginning of April and a snow storm hit Paris. Everybody stayed inside.
The next morning the Parisians learned that Prussia had declared war on France.

Private Chauvin rushed to inform General Bonaparte about the news. He wanted to knock, but noticed the door to Bonaparte’s house was open. He entered the house and saw Hercules in the living room, sitting in a chair, next to a stove, not moving, apparently dead.

He maintained his composure and examined the crime scene thoroughly. Napoléon was wearing one slipper and one swimming fin, which was rather strange. His right hand was closed in a fist and when Chauvin opened it he noticed a piece of paper, torn from a larger sheet. The word poor was written on the paper.

“Well, we’re going to need another Commander for our army”, Robespierre made a comment about the tragic events. “Let’s choose one tomorrow in the National Assembly.”

Darn it, -tko, I figured it out and went to go post it, and now you hurried up and killed me and made it even more obvious.

Go back to the last thread. First off, Mr. Franklin was the last person to see HongHu alive and was the one who brought everyone to see her. Secondly, never mind poisoning, it WAS electrocution. HongHu was attached to a cord (kite string), and the cross (the frame of the kite) had a piece of metal in it- the key Franklin used for his experiments. Go draw a cross with a rhombus connecting the diagonals. It's the classic picture of a kite.

If that wasn't enough, Mr. Franklin's latest killing involved the word "Poor," and we all know that he wrote/ is due to write "Poor Richard's Almanac." In fact, another of the words was "Rich." But we had enough evidence before.

rah: And oh yes, of course it was nothing personal. But understand that the poor, recently deceased Monsier Hebert was a radical proto-anarchist who was described as an "ultra-revolutionary" and cheerfully endorsed drowning enemies of the revolution. He can be rather... passionate about getting executed, let's say.

Therefore this is not a syllogism.

Snowfire's right. Sorry I started the docpile that killed you, but, oh well.

                              GJRamsey is the mafia.

We've still got to find the flogger, but we might as well go ahead and execute the poisoner.

Who's left alive who was a moderate? I think that pretty much narrows it down to Smiley or Rah -- everybody else is either a royalist, a jacobin, or a chauvanist.
