Oh yah, since 2 people already have researched Iron Working, it now only costs 3 gold. I'll just refund those the extra gold if they don't specify changes.Visit First Cultural Industries

I'll take over from Jamski if you'd like. He can take back over when he returns, if he wants to, but for now I'll have a shot at running the Byzantine empire. I'll miss this turn too, and send orders for the next turn, but can everyone please go a little easy on me because I'll be some way behind to start off with.

2000 BC
Gladiator 2000BC
Iron! The discovery of this metal spread like wildfire around the world.
Upon seeing iron for the first time, Emperor DarkCloud of Iguana Fire grew excited. Though the sample the merchant presented him was only a small knife, he had heard tales of the mighty swords that were being forged elsewhere. DarkCloud made the merchant a guest of his palace and asked his thinkers to unlock its secrets.
Far away in the land of the Spaced Dudes, the first sight of iron was recieved with equal fanfare. Here also, people worked into the night, stoking the furnaces and pounding metal.
Not long after, ironworking was also seen in the land of Vovan. Now, only the backwards nation of Byzantium was still using bronze tools.
Cubium and Serbia, having already been using iron for a millenia, had their sights on further progress. As his nation grew more advanced, Gameis felt that more than might was needed to hold his empire together. Calling together the people in his city, new ideas for a government of Monarchy were laid out.
Ljube's Serbs also developed Monarchy. The benefits in both nations of a more stable and efficient ideas of governance were immediately present, with tax income rising.
Now fully aware of each others' existence, the five empires decided to prove their prestige. Since the wide expanses of the continent prevented any military action, individual warriors known as Gladiators travelled from city to city.
To attract the best and strongest fighters, every emperor decided to build a Colosseum. Their successes varied.
After the expense of setting up the new aristocracy, Ljube was left with only three gold, one short of what was needed to build a Colosseum. Nonetheless, he ordered his engineers to work. Funds ran out three quarters of the way, leaving an odd shaped open ring. Completely useless for gladiating, Ljube's engineers ended up converting it into a palace and selling it to one of the new members of nobility.
Gameis, having the additional gold from pilgrims to the Tower, was better prepared. He completed the ring, and then spent an additional gold to add extra seating. The warriors did not come, though, for they had heard of a better Colosseum elsewhere. The empty structure was turned into a government building.
Down in the land of Vovan, the game of one-upmanship continued. Vovan's Colosseum, built at a cost of six gold, featured a canvas awning to keep out the strong western sun. However, here too the gladiators passed by.
It turned out their attention had been caught by the grand Colosseums of Spaced Cowboy and DarkCloud. Both were lavish seven-gold marvels.
The fights proceeded. With impressive weapons, armor, and power, the duel between the top gladiators was tough. DarkCloud's warrior had the advantage of starting training earlier, and emerged as the champion. Victorious, the Empire of Iguana Fire became the Land of Gladiating, and other nations would grow fearful of its warriors.

Venturing deeper into the frozen night, Basileus Jamski II slayed a three-headed seal. His people, still leaderless, were prodded nonetheless to pay taxes.Visit First Cultural Industries

You know, I'd be willing to grant duke o'york an extra city or tech because he had to start with the jamski-handicap... just to let him catch up.

Just wondering- about the trade-rules; does the other empire have to state that they accept my caravans, or can I just build one and send it anyways and still reap the benefits?-->Visit CGN!
