  • As I said, completely useless for anything other than window dressing.

I still like my old Ranger/Rogue/Shadowdancer character when I first played the SoU campaign, though. That character was rather weak when his cover was blown, but was downright AWESOME as long as he could do hit-and-run sneak attacks.

Just a quick advert for the Folderol DM event at 5pm-7pm GMT today(Sunday)

That's breakfast time for West Coasters, and lunchtime for East Coasters, I guess

          • My favorite character right now is a Lawful Neutral Rogue/Cleric (devotee to Kelemvor with Travel and Protection clerical domains). A rather unusual character, which is precisely what I like about it.

            • I prefered it when Lawful Rogues were disallowed *sigh*

Picking locks, setting traps and stealing stuff by sneaking around in the dark - but while not breaking the law?

IIRC, in 2E, lawful good rogues were disallowed. Rogues of any other alignment were fine. I don't know about 1E.

Actually, Lawful Rogues DO make some sense. The lawful alignment does not mean that one cannot use stealth and it does not mean that one cannot use lock picking or trap disarming against the opponents of order.

Afterall, what the Lawful alignment really means is that your character is a devotee of order against chaos. They will have a tendency to see things within that perspective and will generally defer from siding against established authorities, breaking laws, or lying (or other forms of personal dishonesty) to get ahead.

The imperial spy or agent that faithfully serves their Emperor, King, or Lord and uses stealth to help in their mission while remaining firmly loyal to the law and order of their kingdom could be a Lawful Good Rogue.

It's absolutely true that being a Lawful Rogue leaves less room for a rogue to practice some of their skills, most especially pick pocketting or stealing from chests and other dishonest activities. That said, many of the skills a rogue possesses, most notably their stealth skills, combat skills, and ability to spy on people or remove obstacles from a party's path are hardly inconsistent with a Lawful alignment... whether their actions are truly Lawful would be determined by the INTENTIONS behind such actions rather than the actions themselves.

                  • Anyhow, I started a character in Folderol earlier and was trying to solo in the Noobe Gardens with it. There was another relatively noob guy in the area (5th Level Fighter, I think), but he turned down my request to join up. We still ran into each other occassionally.

There was also a 32-level female elven sorcerer who came crashing through the Noobe Gardens metamorphized as a Balor Lord... what the hell was that about?

And I sent you a PM ingame, Arnelos. You didn't reply *sobs*

                        • Jamski, if you have a second to spare, I am desperately in need of help in the BG thread.

Back on topic, () I've reached the central core of Waterdeep in the first game. Female elf fighter (3 levels of fighter, looking to go to an arcane archer eventually, but I've got a rubbish INT, and will need it to cast the spells). Unfortunately I can't remember where to go to find a henchman before I go to the peninsula district and hunt down the escaped creatures. Some help here would be useful.

Just wondering, does anyone know that if I purchase the Gold edition of NWN, but the regular edition doesn't work on my computer (even with ATI 9200 PATCHES) that it might work?

Strangely enough the Toolset works fine now with the game patched up and the drivers patched up and the graphics card patched up- but the game REFUSES to load any levels...
