Episode 6

The warming-up session was quiet today. Teams were simply experimenting with different car and fuel setups and that resulted in a mixed standing at the end of the session.

At the final press conference before the race, Anita Blake asked the drivers a few pre-race questions.
"How's the confidence after today's session, DrSpike?"
"It's pretty good, I think we can dictate the race pace starting from pole, and we'll try to keep that to our advantage throughout the entire race."
"Ronnie Joncha, second on the grid, what is your strategy going to be?"
"We hope that the car's reliability will be a decisive factor like it's been thus far this season. If the reliability holds up, you can count on us to be in contention for the win."

The recent murders had also kept everyone in the paddock busy the last few days. Throughout the day, all the survivors slowly handed in their votes to race commissioner DarkCloud.

"I hope I'm not too late", Imran said.
"Don't worry, you're not. I think this is the final submission", DarkCloud replied, "I'll have my secretary finalize the vote and I'll announce that the results are in."

"Alright, ladies and gentlemen, the results are in. The 'lucky' person today is: ... err, this can't be possible, it's... me.", said DarkCloud.
A silent DarkCloud was escorted to the flagpoles where he was hanged.

"Is it over?", Anita asked Imran.
"We killed the fuel and lubricant supplier, the sponsor, and now the race commissioner. If it's not over now, it's going to be over very soon anyway..."

The following morning, Imran arrived at the track very excited about race day. He was smiling to everyone as he made his way to his commentary box. He was stopped in his track by the sight of a pair of legs sticking out around the corner. Imran went to take a look and saw a female body with a plastic bag over its head.
He removed the bag and it revealed the face of his assistant Anita Blake! On her body was the tape of an audiocassette she was holding. The tape was wound in the form of a circle.
Imran decided to take the responsibility of summoning everyone and recording the votes now that the commissioner is dead.

It's interesting how all the extraneous characters have been eliminated. Just the drivers and the TV commentator.

There were never any "extraneous" characters. Everyone was involved one way or another.
If there were, then Imran would be an extraneous character as well.

Just so you know- next round I was going to vote for myself anyways, assuming that joncha wasn't guilty
Here's the posthumous reasoning... assuming Spike was assassinated and Joncha killed by the group.

He resolved to vote with his heart and not with his head. He could survive, yes. Soon it would all be over. But the deaths- they laid heavy on his heart. In his heart he knew he could not live for what he had done.

He had killed them. Killed them all. Trokair, Smiley, HongHu, and Joncha... He had known HongHu was innocent, but he had tried to survive- and Joncha- he had been certain the man was guilty- and smiley- the same- now they were all dead.

And he was to blame. There was only one decision left. The killer could only be Imran or Anita. But DarkCloud knew what he must do. He must- he must vote for...
His hand quivered as he wrote in the name. It would all be over soon. He would no longer have to fear death.

But- onto the story itself.

"DarkCloud met his death with deathly calm. Yes he would die. But he had killed so many with his word, crossing them off the list. Smiley. Trokair. HongHu. None were guilty.

He felt especially dismal about HongHu's demise. He had known she was not guilty, and yet he had voted for her in order to live.

Now he knew that the important thing was not life- but truth, and he wished that he had been strong enough to vote for truth and vote for joncha. But he had not. He had feared too much. And now he would die, suffering for his crimes.

DarkCloud ascended the steps to the flagpole and gave up his ghost
