I actually think that the Readiness Level is already far too high if you consider the number of years per turn.

In history, civilizations don't need between 14 to 200 years to be ready for war, though they can be caught by surprise and thus unprepared.

As far as I am concerned I rather think that military readiness levels should be halved for each government type.

    • Build Manager Window

I have spotted a few texts that were too long for some buttons. I have managed to resize the texts through the ldl_str.txt file but I have not found where or how to modify the text in the lower left part of the Build Manager Window.

It should read Gest. de ville instead of Gestionnaire de ville.

Here is the picture and a copy of the corrected ldl_str.txt file.

Probably the string you are looking for is in another file than ldl_dtr.txt.

          • Im trying to change some names in civ_str.txt, but when i go to the civ select window strange things happen.

Like i only changed Greece to Finland, obviously just the various names in quotation marks, but then the leader names act weird. You select the civ, but when you click male and female it changes the leader names to a different civ, even though Greece is still selected, and too the button still says Greece instead of Finland. Do i need to edit somewhere else now or is it just acting weird?

            • that is weird did you accidentally delete a quotation mark? it might be easier to just add finland since its alphabetical f it will appea in the list (and bump the zulus)

              • Thanks for quick response E. Ive tried both, editing and adding a new civ (in civ.txt too obviously). All quotation marks are intact too.

In the case of editing Greece to Finland, the button stays as "Greece", and when you switch male to female and back, it shows the German leader names, which is normally right above Greece. Theres other faults with the German and French leader names using the male/female buttons too.

                  • The only lines ive changed are these:

                    Code:
                    GREEK "Finnish"

                    GREEK_LEADERM_NAME "Risto Ryti"
                    GREEK_LEADERF_NAME "Helen"
                    GREEK_COUNTRY_NAME "Finland"
                    GREEK_SINGULAR "Fin"
                    GREEK_PLURAL "Fins"
and this works normally with the unmodded game, but not with the playtest.

                    • is this civilisation.txt or civ_str.txt.

I'm assuming civ_str.txt remember Martin did create a civ database wo these are interchamgeable

                      Code:
                      	LeaderNameMale GREEK_LEADERM_NAME
                      	LeaderNameFemale	GREEK_LEADERF_NAME
                      	PersonalityMale PERSONALITY_STALIN
                      	PersonalityFemale	PERSONALITY_CEASAR
                      	PersonalityDescription	PERSONALITY_DESCRIPTION_WAR_FEW
                      	CountryName GREEK_COUNTRY_NAME
                      	SingularCivName GREEK_SINGULAR
                      	PluralCivName GREEK_PLURAL
Maybe try using the new names. Wait, are you using an old file you have or the one from the latest playtest. there might be an issue there.

This is what I thought but I have looked at all the files into the french folder and I have not found anything close to the said string.

                        • i saw this in you rfile:

                          str_tbl_ldl_Open_City_View "Gest. de ville"

                          str_ldl_CITY_MANAGER "Gest. de ville"

                          str_ldl_City_Manager_Title "GESTIONNAIRE DE VILLE"

                          maybe you missed that one?

the only other thing i can think of is looking through the inteface ldl files for the build manager window and see what string it points to

Its civ_str.txt and im using the one that came with the playtest, and only changed those lines i mentioned just now. Thats how i did it before, because it saved me a bit of time adding a new civ. Of course adding a new civ does strange things with the leader names too.

Is it some sort of sorting problem on the civ selection screen?

Thanks E, I have already tried to modify the string you are pointed at, no result as this is the title of the window and not a string for a button.

I have tried to spot the build manager window in the ui datas layouts... no success so far.

                              • OK, I have finally found the string that had to be corrected, it was in the add_str.txt file. I don't understand why it wasn't spotted through my previous spotting attempts though, I thought I had searched through all the language files.

I am about to post the corrected files into the Translation Center thread.
